First post here, have been doing some research and trying to find an answer to my question, I'm VA Plat and flew from LAX - SYD on friday 17/11/17 it was my first time not being in business on this route but assumed I would still have lounge access due to VA Plat... I was on flight VA6551 (operated by delta).

Etihad Lounge was closed so I tried Emirates and was turned away by the Virgin Staff Member on the door due to it being a Delta flight I was booked on, tried my luck with Star Alliance Lounge as well and was turned away, asked a Delta Staff Member on our gate who told me they had no idea.

Are they correct if your on a Delta Flight out of LAX you have no lounge access?

Could be wrong I was pretty tired but there isn't a Delta Lounge in the international departure terminal at LAX. I think the only Delta Lounges are in T2/3

Doesn't the DL operated flight leave from T2 rather than TBIT, in which case you would've had access to the DL skyclub?

Generally the DL flight will depart from T3 or T2, but sometimes TBIT.

In any case, one of the two SkyClubs can be accessed by use of the Airside shuttle bus that operates between TBIT/T2/T3.

It's highly unusual for a DL flight to go out from TBIT (and I assume a temporary unusual scenario due to terminal works) but it does happen (happened to me a month or so ago). If it's a longish layover you can use the Skyclub and then wing it over on the inter-terminal shuttle. Nothing in TBIT in that situation (for you or SkyClub members or those in DL business).
