LATAM & Passport # change between booking & flight

Hi, I know this is a stupid question but I need to ask to keep my anxiety to a min.

Im going to be booking Latam flights and I have to enter passport number details.

Booking will be made soon/2016, Im watching sales pricing.
Flight will be March 2017.
Passport will be renewed in January 2017.

So. If I book with the current passport number, can I update the booking with the new passport number online once I have the new passport?

I ask because Ive read so many terrible things about Latam that I dont want to get screwed by messing up.

No problem at all. You can just update it when you do online check in.
