Hi all,

Hoping for some help - I will be starting to do regular trips to Santiago soon in J with LATAM and want to understand the best FF program to use. Seemingly it will be QFF if the ticket is on a QF codeshare but if its on a LATAM flight number would it be better to use LATAM Pass or can I credit to Delta? Is there another alternative I am missing?

I am VA Platinum and QFF Gold if that helps.

Thanks in advance

If you want to stick with Qantas Frequent Flyer, booking the QF codeshares will allow you to earn Qantas points (at a higher rate) & status credits. But you may end up paying more for your tickets, and the QF codeshares can make things a bit more complicated with seat selection etc.

If you want to book the LA flight numbers, crediting to Delta and earning SkyTeam status may be the way to go.

Worth noting that LATAM Pass is currently running a status match, although you may not be eligible as it's only for members of certain other frequent flyer programs and living in specific countries. In any case, I don't rate LATAM Pass as a good program.

The Delta status match challenge might be a better option. You could complete this on LA flights.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

if you sign up for a new ffp be aware of expiry, what it takes to get/retain status and award cost~award process with those ff miles/points/avios
LATAM is not in an alliance, but ff partner with many airlines.

Having a small balances in a ffp is of little to nil value.
Earning to another-main ffp, even if at a lower rate, can overall be better value and more use in the medium term.

QF is due to restart SYD-SCL 30 Oct 2022

What would be the objective of joining another ffp?

I was unaware Qantas were restarting flights there, but that is great news and simplifies everything.

I'm also pleased to hear that QF is resuming the SCL flights as I prefer the timing of the flights. However I have just had a look at some of the prices.... $13000 J return - yikes :eek:o_O:confused:

I hoping someone here is up to date with LATAM to Chile (then to Brasil).
I thought they were resuming flights direct from Melbourne to Chile?
All flights I'm looking at are via Syd, then NZ.
On a side note, it's annoying they charge in USD for Australia, they weren't doing this before 2020.
