I am going to Cegas in a few weeks for 3 nights by myself to tick it off the bucket list. My budget is $500 for 3 nights accom. Best i can get is MGM, Luxor or Planet Hollywood. Other option is Double Tree at the airport with free shuttle to the strip. Any advice? Or good sites to get cheaper deals?

It was a couple of years ago, but I picked up one of those weekly tourist newspapers at a petrol station, drug store or similar. It was full of discount coupons for Vegas hotels. Ended up staying in The Sands for $50 per night in a twin queen room on the 19th floor including breakfast. Not the best hotel on the strip but the room was fine.

As long as you are not going during a busy time a coupon booklet could be worth a try. Just get there early enough to go to a couple of different options.

Boris...I recently got back from the MGM and had a huge renovated King room for just myself for 90 US per night inc taxes. Sign up to MLife which is MGM's free rewards program online and you will see cheaper rates than what their website shows. I've stayed now at Paris, Caesars, Bellagio and MGM and the last stay was my favourite...excellent hotel though at the far end of the strip, plenty of shops, places to eat, etc and $12 cab ride to the airport.
A lot of the online booking agencies will also have good deals for 3 night stays if you pay in full now. Vegas.com is a good site to also book rates. You should be able to get breakfast included somewhere also.

Boris my eldest son could not believe how reasonable the top shelf accommodation is in Las Vegas and he is travelling with a friend who is on a tight budget. Prices change up on the weekend so work out if you need to really be there on the weekend.
They will be there in July and they got Bellagio for about $300 for three nights by pre-paying and avoiding Friday and Saturday night.

I can't go past the LVH (formally Las Vegas Hilton) now Las Vegas Hotel.

It's older but service is good. If you are a HH Gold or Diamond, they will upgrade your room - also, it's 3 min off the strip (monorail stops at the hotel though) so prices are better and the hotel is quieter than strip hotels. Vegas is full of great hotels, so location depends on what you want out of Vegas.

I'm there 2-6/7. Staying at the Rio. Looks ok. But the WPT is on at the time. So I'm there for the atmosphere.

Are you saying they will upgrade you even though they are no longer part of the Hilton group? Do you just email them and tell them you are a HH diamond?

I'm staying at the Bellagio now until Mon and I love it. Excellent location. Since I last stayed here time they have updated most of the rooms. Any room with the word 'resort' in the room rate type indicates a newly refurbed room. On my last visit I stayed at Aria and it's nice if you like modern hotels but there something grand and opulent that makes staying at Bellagio really special.

I wouldn't go past the strip. Paris is nice. Free WiFi in the cafe downstairs. Look for hotels where there's no further surcharges. I used Expedia.com (US) site to compare, then book.

Stayed at the Monte Carlo a couple of weeks ago - great spot - midweek dropped as low as $90 but up over $200 on the weekend.

Wherever you stay try slipping a little extra cash ($20) at check-in for an upgrade or waiver of any resort fees- I did this and was upgraded to a suite and had 5 nights resort fees waived - the check in clerk didn't even bat an eyelid.

The above is great advice. Most places in Vegas have a daily fluctuating rate - rising from Thursday & peaking over the weekend.

I've stayed at MGM, Planet Hollywood, Paris, Caesars, Four Seasons & Mandarin Oriental.....due to attending a few conferences.

The ones I disliked the most - Planet Hollywood by a country mile followed by Four Seasons

The one I loved the most - Mandarin Oriental

The others are all good however, due to location I would scrub MGM & stick in the middle of the pack.

I have not done it yet, but my friend who is HHD on check in threw the HHD card over the counter about 6 weeks ago and he was upgraded to a much nicer room :)

I've stayed at Harrahs; its not one of the "big name" casinos but was perfectly fine and is mid strip with a monorail stop out the back.

Yes I've heard this is a good place to stay.

I actually stayed off the strip last time and had a great stay.....it's not always about the strip!

We have stayed at Treasure Island 3 times now and previously MGM and The Aladdin now Planet Hollywood - TI More central and great rates. Rooms are really spacious and the hotel is close to Fashion Show Mall for good shopping

Look at post 7, Las Vegas Codes and Promos - FlyerTalk Forums

With $500 to play with for three nights, I am sure you can stay at a nice place. If you're young at heart then I'd probably suggest Planet Hollywood with a Bellagio Lake View. If coolness isn't your thing, then Paris Las Vegas, Bellagio, Vdara on centre strip would be good, other Wynn is a good choice ableit a bit too northern Strip for my lazy liking ;)

I stayed at the Tropicana last year. It underwent a coat of paint a year or two ago, so it's not in bad shape. It's certainly not as opulent as some of the strip hotels. But if you're on a budget it's probably worth a look. And it has free WiFi.
