Las Vegas Buffet

Not a fan of buffet's.

Looks like they are trying to update the Buffet and make it appeal to a wider audience.

Been to Vegas a few times - I'm always amazed how long the queues are for these bucket dumps.

I suppose a place that gets around 39,000,000 people a year - needs to cater for everyone!

some of the buffets aren't bad, Wynn and Bellagio are my faves :)

That's the good thing with Las Vegas, it caters to everyone ;) If you're on a budget, then go eat at Panda Express Chinese ;) Wanna spend more, go to a buffet. Want to splurge, then head to Joel Rubuchon restaurant. I love Las Vegas, even if the main thing I now do there is laze by the resort pools by day, then EAT at BUFFET and then go see a show (off course last minute discount tickets only) ;)

And shopping at factory outlets. I also pound the pavement along length of the Strip to shed some kilos between those activities.

I've spent about 3 weeks in Las Vegas in total and have never felt the need to go one of the famous buffets. There's too many other choices.

I suppose they could be good for people in a large group.

yes - Vegas offers so much as far as culinary experiences go. The buffets at the casinos are out there - the Hilton (ex) offered a chef preparing to order from a somewhat limited menu, all the same, the entire buffet was quite amazing with selection. I have also been to the seafood buffet at Flamingos - quite unreal the choices. Also at the Hilton (ex) is a Japanese Tepenyaki - it is quite expensive but oh so great food - I have eaten there twice and is now on my must go to restaurants when in Vegas.

If you have the time and a car, there are some amazing food spots well away from the strip as well as SWMBO and I have stumbled across

One time, a colleague and I ate at a French restaurant at Paris Casino, the Bouillabaisse was memorable accompanied by some really good (!) California Chardy - I think it is a 1 Michelin Star establishment. When goggling trying to find the name, I was surprised at how many REALLY good restaurants there are in Vegas!

The now ex-Hilton buffet is slops compared to the likes of Wynn and Bellagio. I would not recommend it to anyone

I am one of those people who love food

Desperately want to go to Vegas in early December, waiting on a mate. I know it will mean working a lot to save a lot, but I can live with that...

...I will also need to go on a diet BEFORE I go. Because I KNOW that I will gain weight over there...Who else loves a holiday where the only answer at the table is yes and there is no guilt:?: :D

I put on nearly 3 kilos in 5 days. But hey, how often do you go to Vegas? :)

I was dragged kicking and screaming to the MGM Grand Buffet. I stopped protesting when I saw the all you could eat cooked to order eye fillet

Looks like I'll have to double the exercise regime. I'm known in my group as the big eater...my legend almost fell when eating a schnitzel in Europe the size of Austria itself last month but I prevailed.

I always use the "when will I come back" argument...handy one to have when walking through the streets of Brussels, with nothing but whipped cream surrounding you!! And certainly for the USA...sounds like we could have a great time...gambling + gluttony = happiness?

I have a similar reputation, but find that when a schnitzel begins to defeat you, you have to dig deep.

I found the buffet at the Wynn to be pretty good. Since I like a bit of everything at breakfast the buffet is hard to beat. Though the lumberjack special at Dennys is also a good option. If I go to Vegas again I want to try Hash House A Go Go, a go. Watching Man Vs Food is bad.

Skipping breakfast would seem the best option from my point of view. I mean, it's pretty much the same everywhere (which is why it's so awesome - nearly impossible to screw up/not like the offering)...the lunch/dinner though is unique and Vegas has always been a mecca of that in my eyes!

If we do happen to go over I shall have to do some more research on the best buffets!

I'm not a huge buffet fan, but I can tell you the meal I went back for more than once was the corned beef sandwich from the sandwich shop (Greenberg's) inside New York New York hotel. It must have seriously been 4 inces thick, and all meat ... probably more than my daily calorie intake in one meal, but so delicious.

The New York Sky High was my favourite, but the Vinnie's Deluxe was pretty good as well :)

No! Do not skip breakfast buffet!! Here's a tip which I have practiced a few times now ;) Head to Le Village buffet at Paris Las Vegas and go for their breakfast there! Get there around 930am as the lines can be quite long, enter and pay breakfast rates!! You will have around 30-45 minutes of breakfast left but that's totally acceptable. Le Village is the only buffet that I know of that does not have a break period between breakfast and lunch .... so you can keep sitting there, enjoying breakfast, and then moments later, enjoy the lunch buffet FOR FREE! There's always a few dozen patrons doing the same as you are so don't worry about looking like you were the odd one out. In fact, some people actually/deliberately line up 15-30minutes before lunch starts and when they are asked to pay lunch rates to enter, they say they were waiting for the breakfast .... and thus save $10 or $15 per person (iirc breakfast ~$15, whereas lunch is ~$25)! :)

Great tip! I stayed at Paris last visit but seeing the long queues made me go elsewhere. What I did do is go to the cafe across the buffet which had free wi-fi. Buying a croissant or a drink, I could sit there as long as I wished to check emails and call home over Skype.

I'm with you, lining up at the trough holds no excitement for me.
However they are at least priced as a buffet should be.

I have found that the Buffet at the M Resort is one of the best in (or around) Vegas

You do need a car as it is a 10 minute drive up the hill towards the CA border

Personally I like the buffets as I have strange cravings, and to go to a Restaurant or Cafe and
be able to ask, and get what I want is near impossible (or gets me some strange looks).

Part of the reason when travelling I like places like Sizzler… I can have my pasta, with taco mince,
peas and corn mixed together… lol
