About to book a OW flight SYD to AKL in June. I don't have much love for the Jet connect 737, and don't plan on upgrading with points so I wonder if the LAN A 340 flight which leaves at the same time might be a better option? Have never flown LAN before, so not sure what if any recognition of WP there is, and particularly if I get to select good seats etc?

Did that recently - just to try out LAN.

Recognition - none. Seat selection - many of the good seats were blocked and even my seat was changed at check in as well so. Service was efficient but not very friendly. Food was rather average. Newspapers were available - but only in Spanish.

Why not J, it can be had as a round trip for under $800 if booked on the NZ home site.

Similar experience to me. I had booked through QF and chosen seat 12C in advance (front row bulkhead seat) but when I checked in at the LAN counter they gave me another seat down the back.

My flight was on time but I have heard the LAN flight can be delayed due to the incoming leg from SCL.

Not an option for this trip unfortunately. I'm meeting the family there, and they are flying on an EK return award so will book that flight as QF. I did look at LAN J OW but it was $650 ex SYD. From the comments here I think I will stick to QF for Y and try LAN when J is an option.
