KrisFlyer 15% Transfer Bonus! [Offer Extended to Jan 16th 2021]

I got bitten by the 3 year expiry with KF and had to transfer miles to Virgin to save them. With Virgin inundating us with offers and now KF too, I am inclined to sit on the sideline.
Mind you CX AM is no better. Was forced into making a booking this year b/c of with expiring points. Hoping borders open up and that a vaccine is available before May2021. :) Don't want to travel if we have to quarantine on return.

If there was no expiry I would totally transfer my Amex and ANZ points, but I already hold enough in my SQ account from a Velocity transfer. SQ’s expiry policy is clearly counter-intuitive. People would transfer more often if they didn’t have it - which would ultimate benefit SQ by creating more member engagement. There would be a lot of us that would have taken advantage of this offer, but haven’t/won’t solely on this fact.
Same, I would normally jump on this except for the 3 year expiry. And even that would be no problem if not for locked borders. 😢

NY rtn is looking harder.
We are also looking for NY flights in F, they are available but at the higher 'Advantage' rate. I have not seen the 'Saver' rate for a while and the 15% bonus won't cover the points jump.

I think it will be a few years before I'm happy to go to NY again (or anywhere in the States) until everyone is vaccinated. They just don't seem to care.

Also, interesting to see SQ 24, the SIN-NY non-stop, is now going into JFK rather than EWR so it maybe a while before the 380s return via FRA with Suite availability.

I'm seriously tempted to clear out my ANZ Rewards points balance. I'm planning to cancel my ANZ Travel Adventures card soon anyway.

Of course, this assumes I'll be able to redeem the miles in the next 3 years. That 3-year fixed expiry is a shocker, and it would be great if more AFF members complained directly to KrisFlyer about it.

Yep I will complain - as someone said earlier, it's actually disincentives us from transferring points as otherwise it's a simple decision to transfer

If possible slant your complaint along the lines I am very keen to transfer if not for the expiry of current points given how we are prevented from leaving Australia for some time to come. If however the transfer saw the expiry date of all points become 3 years from the date of transfer then I would be happy to....

Paraphrase but make sure you leave no doubt as to problem & solution!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just a reminder about the three year expiry, it is important when accruing to hit a target. But if you already have reached the target whilst you need to book before they expire, you can book almost 12 months in advance and the ticket is valid for 12 months after the original date of travel, so it could be up to (almost) five years after the points hit the account that you can travel.

I just took your advice and sent them a message. Here’s the link to make it easier for others:

Thanks for the link, just provided feedback to implement a direct SQ earn Credit card in the Australian market & remove the 3 year expiry to allow international travellers to engage more with the program.

I think the three year expiry should be scrapped altogether so I'll make that suggestion in my complaint (better that the complaints vary in detail lest they think we are running a campaign). I'll also note that Asia Miles and Delta SkyMiles have scrapped their hard expiry.

I honestly don't mind the 3yr expiry, except during these covid times.

I wonder if other negative changes will come about in the KF program if they remove the 3yr rule

I also think the 3 year expiry should be scrapped. I have >1m points that are trapped and heading towards expiry.

My thinking is that whilst all airlines are desperate for the cash, they might at best do what Asia Miles did which is scrap the expiry for all NEW miles. That way existing miles expire, we forfeit them or redeem for cough (I had to redeem for merchandise with AM) & that reduces the liability on their balance sheet for free.

With so many KF points, as rare as KF bonus offers are, I’ll be giving this one a miss.

Thanks but no thanks. I'm keeping my points in my Amex account until it's clear when we're going to be able to fly again and which airlines are still in operation. Even Krisflyer had no expiry date then it's a no brainer as I don't expect Singapore to fold but with the expiry date it's too risky.

Not so subtle hint/qn... ;)

Sent your views to SIA yet?

please explain why you guys don't see us flying in <3yrs from now?
It's not that we don't see flying....

However, many already have built massive balances with SIA:
  • say transferring all VFF across before the transfer rate was downgraded 2 yrs back
  • intended to redeem them perhaps this year (our case) but CV came along
  • SIA have removed all 1st class booking ability through to Nov 1st, 2021
  • SIA have reduced 1st potential availability at best by > 75% for suites. Was 24 A380s @ 12, now at most will be 12 @ 6 and that is for revenue seats. So ability to redeem when actually on schedule has plummeted
  • compare with CCs where many also have balances which don't expire
