Hi all, I am making a short trip to Chch and the lower south island late next week and have booked a reward flight on my Amex Plat credit card.

Has any Koru members utilised Koru facilities/privileges on and DJ flights across the Tasman?

Any thoughts and opinions etc appreciated.

Thanks R

Just goto the Priority DJ Check-in which you are entitled too. I'm guessing there is no lounge so you won't get access to that. You should get priority seating on the plane. What specifically did you want to know? I was treated very well by DJ as a *G

Thanks Indi, I was most concerned about the extra baggage allowance, when I fly Air NZ as a Koru member I get an extra checked bag. Now on this trip I am on strict instructions from my mother (no laughing please) to bring an extra bag so I can take some stuff back to Bris from my mothers recent cruise to the US ie goodies for me and the family ! So I am going to make sure that I cam take an almost empty extra checked bag as a Koru member. And a nice seat would also be good.

According to the Air NZ/VA website lounge access is available on a DJ boarding pass for Koru members. so I intend to make use of the Bris Koru (am departing/returning via Bris) lounge which is pretty ordinary by Air NZ lounge standards I must say, but will be nice for a drink and snack at 4.30pm prior to boarding.

Ok I wont laugh....As long as you are on atleast a seat + bag fare you will get additional baggage. When I flew, I was on a seat only fare, but DJ offered to check in a bag for free, but I declined. I thought you were leaving from OOL, but yes you will have access to BNE KC.

Thanks Indi, yes OOL would have been nice, but Bris is closer as I am leaving from the office and I can't get OOL as a redemption option.

Will let you know how I get on when I get back, all sounds good, and nice service from DJ to offer you the checked baggage with a seat only option.

Mother knows best or so they say

Ok so I got back from my quick trip to NZ from Bris yesterday.

As a KC member on Pac Blue I was offered the choice of two seats on the 737-800, either 3d or 15c. I chose 15c and sat next to two VA pilots who were going to chch to pick up a plane and take it back to Melb. Very nice blokes to chat with. Anyway at premium check in at Bris they also gave me card for the express lane at customs. I then went to the Bris KC lounge and waited to board. All in all a good service at Bris Pac Blue check in and fight.

Coming back from Chch I was also offered the same seats roughly, the staff member said, will these seats be ok with you Mr Ricardo? So that was nice of them to ckeck. I took 3c which is a PE seat, so it was a nice relaxing flight back to Bris except for the young pre school child in the seat right behind me, who was somewhat restless during the flight. Just a suggestion that maybe young children should not be so close to PE seats. Apart from that the experience was great and I would use Pac blue again as a KC member if the situation required this. Oh and I could have taken an extra bag also as a KC member. I also had two short flights within NZ from chch to Invercargill and return on Air NZ (operated by Mt Cook Line), which were also good, but flying conditions in the lower south island can be very bumpy ....

Flew back from CHC this morning - NZ codeshare on DJ metal.

On Check in I was given 3A - I took that as it was a lightly loaded flight¹

Aside from another PAX in 3F, no-one else in rows 1-3. Flight was about 70% loaded.

Offered newspaper, PE 'bud' headphones, Express pass and DigEplayer².

¹ All DJ/NZ fare buckets for the flight showed 7's.
² "Light" fare.

Ok....
do you know if you had a DJ or a NZ flight number?
Just I can get better points earning if I book through DJ, but I'm looking at koru club, so was wondering if I had access to koru club if I booked through DJ...

The flight both ways was DJ, I would expect you should get the same privileges regardless of who you book with. I would recommend KC if you travel within NZ and/or over the ditch on a semi regular basis. Serfy posted a guide on here somewhere that was also useful and I recall getting something similar posted to my home address about the benefits of the code share for KC and status members of both Air NZ and Virgin. Hope this helps.

When I flew DJ SYD-AKL on an NZ Seat Only fare with Koru.

I was offered
- 3F
- Option to check a bag for free
- Digi Player
- Drink from the on-board bar

Yea, I'm looking into it, but I'll have to see if I can get a decent corporate rate, as there is no way I can afford the standard rate.

I know that flights booked through Air NZ on DJ metal (NZ 7000 flights) qualify ofr KC benefits, I was just curious if I booked through DJ on DJ metal trans tas (they specifically say it does for domestic) if KC benefits would still be applied, and it appears it does. Which is good news for me.

It appears DJ look after KC members better than Air NZ does...
