Where to hold/retain points? Remember Ansett and Diners Club. Diners transferred my points to Ansett en masse and when Ansett went down all points went into the ether. Diners took no responsibility for the loss of my 400,000 or so points.

Since the Ansett debacle ( I also lost over 400,000 points and no assistance from Diners at all when it went down the tubes ) Since then I have tried to allocate points as I earn them to the core carrier that excels in a region or has best regional value offers: I think SQ are best in Asia for Business and First points value and EK for Europe and beyond - in spite of over 15 years with QF I can say their points access and availability is totally rubbish and I have now directed any points to either CX or now to EK . My great fear is that EK will erode their value now they are aligning more to QF's madness and this is evident with the loss of pre flight upgrades on several flights when you book on line. Worrying trend !

whether it's a wise move or not. we keep all our pointsin Qantas awards. the reason for this is, we fly domestic Bus. and as qantas isthe only domestic that offers this service, to all capital cities it is essential.when flying intnl. we have plenty of choices. i made the mistake oftransferring 400,000 points to krisflyer. then found out that they expire after2-3 years? also we need more krysflyer miles to travel than with qantas. i amabout to lose those points thru nonuse ( we only fly 1st) and find qantasoffers enough choice to cover our needs when travelling o’seas.

And as stated previously. most cards only offer a fewchoices anyway.
Citibank, you either choose qantas. Or if they are keptin the citibank account the choice is either sing air, virgin both staralliance or cathay, which is oneworld anyway.
With my amex cards, one is qantas ultimate and the other platinum.Plat. And these days amex are reducing the earn to one-0ne on most retailers.

Book some Suites flights now out of Singaopore and you will be hooked on Kris and SQ.

Really? Especially with the 15% online discount, Singapore is almost universally cheaper on a point to point basis than Qantas - and by quite a long way on many routes. What kind of itineraries are you talking about?

90% of my points are with QF. I just don't find the VA offer to be compelling enough to consider shifting more there. As others have said, QF Earn is pretty easy, but burn rates aren't great. For Dom, QF has a more extensive lounge network and IMO better IFE/food options (for Y), although crew can be hit and miss. I'm also fan of the EK tie-up. I should reach SG on planned travel next year meaning OWS then has massive appeal to me.

Virgin can't offer this for me. I like that they're partnered with NZ and SQ, but other than that, they don't have any other partners that appeal to me. Even then, the lack of lounge access in certain ports (eg NZ in Pacific Islands/ SQ in Star partner lounges) makes it a mismatch offer. The only way I would shift more to VA was if they were to join *A - which seems off the table while JB is in charge. Sadly the NZ and SQ FF offerings aren't attractive enough to allow me to get the best of both worlds (VA and *A)

Excuse my ignorance but I just can't find specific information to confirm whether the transfer rate from Membership Rewards to SPG is the same for the DJ Platinum Amex as it is for other Platinum Amex cards

With over 1 million QFF points now (enough for 4 x One World RTW) I am thinking of moving more of my future earn to AA as I would quite like to still keep the points within OneWorld and believe this would give me more flexibility and potentially access to better offers or at least more choices

Can anyone confirm the transfer rate and do you think this is a reasonable strategy?
