Am flying PER-CBR via SYD on VA.

I wanted to do the two sectors on different days (so as to spend a night in SYD), but when I booked, it was cheaper to book as one ticket, with the sectors over two days.

However, for the night in SYD, I won't need the baggage that I will check-in.

My question is, is there any way to get the luggage to remain checked in at the airport, to save me taking it to SYD, where I don't need it, and then also having to re-check it?

It's unlikely you'll have the option not to retrieve. I think the general principle is baggage may only stay with the airline if you stay at the airport.

That shouldn't be a problem, just make sure the baggage tag has CBR on it when you check in.
