JQ online seriously asks that you checkin online....... for the international DPS route
On arrival at the terminal, it was obvious that there were no dedicated check in positions for travelers who had followed the online advice. Though it was clear that those who had, took a lot less time to process than those who had not.
Be prepared with the up to date info when wandering

A further caution flying JQ DPS-PER and connecting to QF on same PNR.

1. JQ app/website doesn’t check you into the onward QF connection.
2. QF app/website won’t let you check in separately.
3. DPS won’t check through luggage, nor issue QF BP
4. In PER, need to collect luggage. Schlep to T4 and checkin…

Sorry, not following. If you checked in on-line, why did you need a dedicated check-in position at the airport? Do you mean bag-drop? And are you saying, in spite of that, it was still quicker to check in overall (assume using normal check-in lines), than those checking in at the airport?

For someone who has only flown JQ domestic once, many years ago, but who is flying DPS-BNE (only and HLO, in J Max) in a few weeks, any further tips gratefully received. Please be gentle.

Does QFF Plat do anything for me? Arrive at airport how long before departure? I see I get access to the Premier Lounge. Any good?

Is JQ app essential?

Online states a bagdrop would be available. Being international, there would have to have been a document check, checking your data.
At the JQ checkin at PER, there was no advantage to the passenger as there was only one (VERY long est 45minute) queue. The advantage to JQ would have been slightly faster processing times for the already checked in passengers. I suppose as a QFF Gold I should have asked if I had lounge access.... but did not.
In the past, there has only ever been one JQ queue at DPS. And Max fares get lounge access, such as it is (though QF uses the same lounge)
As far as the app, which I do have, I only use a full size keyboard and internet for transactions
Happy wandering

Isn't that the case with all international arrivals?
While PER doesn’t have a “luggage transfer” point, you would still expect to be at least “checked-in” for the onward connection so you just take your bag to a drop off desk. Even on JQi (I know JQ Dom doesn’t work that way).

I've done the online check-in thing with JQ before too. Kinda wish they'd have a dedicated line for it. Anyway, thanks for the heads up.

Thanks. I'm doing this in July next year but we have a very long transit in Perth to Adelaide so good to know the hiccup process.

We did it in July (classic reward DPS-PER-SYD). We also had a couple of hours transit but PER-SYD was in J and the day before there was an equipment swap from A332 to B738 - and according to QF were were still allocated “K” seats on a plane that stops at “F”! - with no way of changing it!). Rookie mistake, I only realised the equipment change after I’d done OLCI for JQ…. Sorted over the phone from Bali but not being “checked in” for that onward flight was annoying.

Anyway, take the free shuttle bus from T1 to T3/4. If arriving from DPS on the morning flight (lands in PER around noon), both terminal should be pretty quiet.

There must be quite a few Awards on JQ to Bali then. Ours is award too.

The "addition"to get the MAX fare between PER and DPS is not that large a "markup"
Fair number of points and an additional 25 SC (total 50)
Cheaper than QF domestic

The trouble with JQi at PER, is that it arr and dep from PER T1, where as QFi and QFd at PER arr and dep at T3 and T4.
So, ideally, if I were to want to get to DPS from and to PER, I would leave it at least quite about 2.5/3 hrs to get across by the orange/(red & grey) bus.
Edit: thought it was orange, like the BNE airport one, thats orange, too, but the PER one, is grey and red.
For Pushka though, for party of 2, maybe a taxi/uber would be good, a bit faster than the bus.
Party of one, I would say the bus.
And of course, the train does not pass anywhere near PER T3/T4!
The bus and taxis also use the main road, so you should leave a lot of time to get from and to each of the QF & JQ terminals that they both use at PER.
I have used both T1 and T2, and T4 at PER, so I get it, is a pain when JQi at DPS won't or can't do a linked BP issue to get a QFd flight from PER to another city.
Same as CX and MH (OW alliance partners) at PER, its a pain in the bum if you have a QFd flight to get to or from, esp if not a PER resident.

Edit: uber won't give out estimate of fare, without having to give phone number or log in.
Think I paid about $35 or so, T4 to T1 in 2013, mid morning.

Uber was quoting ~$30 middle of the day on a Sunday when we passed through. The bus was fine. Just get the right one (another at a nearby T1 stop goes to the long term car park).
