I encountered something strange when checking prices for a flight to SYD in July with QF.

qfBOOKING.jpg

One JQ codeshare flight, JQ6416, keeps showing up at an $81 Jetsaver fare.

The flight under it, QF416 (ie. the same flight) shows up as a $127 red e-deal.

The JQ codeshare doesn't show up on any other booking engine (JQ included) when I search MEL-SYD. It could possibly come up for an international JQ booking but I haven't checked.

Question is what should I do? Book the QF ticket or the JQ ticket?
At the end of the day it's the same thing but something about it just doesn't seem right...

It's full service QF stuartfaz for a fraction of the price. :p

It depends if you want the FF and SC points though. I would book it, though I have a feeling this is a mistake.

I imagine it is for Melbourne people wanting to fly to somewhere like Osaka, and it is the connecting flight. It might appear, but whether you could actually book it is another matter.

Its obviuosly a system error but if you can get it to book and quote for $81 vs 127 yr crazy not to do so before they fix the glitch even if you dont get FF points and tier pts
I say glitch because JQ codeshare should only appear in conj with a JQI flight.
The 6,000 range (6,+QFoperating flight number)identifies the flight as a JQ codeshare....$46 is worth more than 1,000 FF points

I realise that (QFF points are worthless to me anyway seeing as I'm not a member) but it's the matter of whether they'll honour the flight which I'm hesitating on. They could easily pull out the 'system glitch' card and then I could find myself up the proverbial creek.

I'm able to get right up to the payment part of the QF booking process. Whether it'll stall from then on I don't know.

I just tried and got bounced to the JQ site which only offered JQ30 an INT op between MEL-SYD INT terminals..bad luck

Ahh well...the JQi D-sticker one was what I was going to book before I found this one, so no harm done.

I would find it very unlikely QF would pull such a card, they will even if they had a system error fly you at that price i am sure, its not like a $10k fare for $2.
