JQ bookings: Does anyone opt-in to Starkids donation?

I personally find it annoying that the Jetstar booking site automatically opts-in to a donation to charity. But I was wondering: Has anyone actually chosen to make a donation while making a Jetstar booking? I can't imagine many would (unless they didn't realise the box had been selected...) but happy to be proven wrong.

If you book with vouchers to save the credit card fee, it's a great way to use up any residual money on the voucher

IME the only items JQ pre-select are the 20kg of checked baggage & a $2.00 Starkid's donation.

You can change the Starkids donation from $2.00 back to zero, although I didn't bother because thought it would be a bit mean.

Deselecting baggage is easy a you'll get a prompt like "are you sure you want to delete checked baggage as it's more expensive to buy at the airport?"

I think there would be more disgruntled pax if it was up to them to add baggage themselves as a lot would just skip the processs then complain at the airport "it never gave us the option to add bags" etc.

At least they're not automatically selecting travel insurance - I've fallen for that before & that's when I thought I'd deselected it.

I think that's a very fair point. However I don't think there'll be any disgruntled passengers because they "weren't given the option" to make an optional donation to charity. I really don't understand why that one is pre-selected.

I have accidentally donated a few times, it is only $2 but I see your point

I fly each week so quickly adds to $100 if forget to deselect

I made a booking today (I very rarely make AU-based bookings), and noticed the option to donate. I thought about it for a second, but then saw that it was pre-selected. And now that I felt like they are forcing me to donate, I selected zero. Thinking about it now, if it was left at zero to start with, I probably would've put in $2 or $5 (or may be even more, given I'm only paying $39 for my ticket where only a couple of days ago I was considering spending $69 for the same ticket).
