I've found an award flight from JNB to HKG that aligns with my dates in J. However, getting the next hop seems very difficult even several months out.
If I book JNB-HKG in J on points, then HKG-NRT/HND/NGO in Y with cash on the same day, can I use the lounge in HKG? Normally I assume not, but there is a strange bit on the website about "highest class in 24 hours". CX748 connecting to CX504 seems a good way to enjoy a morning shower & breakfast.
If the answer is no, then hong kong express will be fine for the short hop.
