so Im looking at booking a trip to Thailand or Bali or Japan, either early to mid 2012,

i always keep an eye on the jetstar specials,

a few years ago, there were like $500 return flights (melb) to most of these countries that I missed out on

so Iwas plesantly surprised when jetstars website said $250 one ways to thailand for travel in Feb-Mar 2012 or until sold out

that was just a few days ago, at that point half the flights and return flights were basically $500 return

now when I look at it today, its $700 return

the flights are still avaialalbe but im just wondering is this normal??

its so far ahead so it hasnt sold out, just a bit of a shock!!!

was looking so forward to it, ive still got screen shots showing my friends and relatives who are (were) considering it!

Maybe there was a "Sale" that finished. Certainly Qantas has an "asian" sale that finished on the 14th.

Sale fares are their way of selling seats they don't anticipate will sell at full price. By nature the number of seats will be limited.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Indeed $500 rtn to Thailand is the JQ sale fare price so you will need to wait until the next sale (they have international sales at least once a month). Just remember the sale price doesn't include baggage, food, seat selection, AVOD which adds another $100 or so (still much cheaper then the full service carriers which are now charging $1000+ for Asian flights)

fair enough!

not stressing just yet, I know that jetstar have specials to asia every couple of months at least,

are there any other airlines to consider that have specials

I do look at tiger, air asia, and virgin , and none seem very good for flights to asia from MELB
