Jetstar Website Revamp

I see the Jetstar website has been revamped over night. Looks a lot more cluttered now, but I think it’s a nice change. At least I can finally type a destination into the search box.
 
Sorry, but JQ your new website is all pretty and flash, but lacking substance.

I just checked on an iOS device and it still seems to load all the elements well.
 
Is it just me or does it look quite similar to the new Tiger Airways website :?:

Ok, just in case people are thinking that I hate JQ and are just rubbishing their website for no reason:

Here are the flaws:
- Page layout. Yep great resolution required to visit page. The fonts are too large, the page too crowded, and scrolling down extensively to read the whole page is a PITA.
- The three headers are the top of the page are poorly set out. There needs to be a divider between the various parts of the website.
- When you type in a name (eg Brisbane) for the airport, the type-ahead is cludgy.
- There is no change to their dodgy booking system interface.

It is a complete fail in website layout. Probably designed by an 18yo "expert" in website technology and layout.
 
To follow Mal's analogy a but further,I'm afraid if they were looking for a silk purse they still have a sows ear.
I hate the blue background and the mix of colours with the bright orange star,brown for unvisited links and grey in the middle makes the whole site look cluttered and isn't easy on the eye.

Fail.

New Jetstar Website

Just hopped onto JQ's website this morning only to find something has changed... a brand new look!

I have to say, I'm quiet impressed. It is a very fresh, clean layout, with a very easy user interface for booking. Seems in line with their company policy "Low Fares, good Times"

Now to see if it can deal with a $9 flight sale... only time will tell!

To be honest, I don't mind it. Its something fresh and different, but I'm not falling in love with it. I still prefer Qantas.com

However, we need to think who it was designed for, a Jetstar passenger is usually not an expert flyer(Unless its JQ35 full of Plat's flying it to get into FLounge ;) ), many people booking proabley have never flown before, so they need this sort of basic, easy to understand layout. I think they have done a very good job for people like this.

I've spent too long on Jetstar.com now... back to Qantas.com!
 
It appears to have taken a major retrograde step (by mistake I'm sure) which may cost JQ revenue unless rectified soon.

I've been sussing out MEL-SIN-MEL *class fares next January for a while, and now when I try and look at those dates, despite a message saying you can book up to one year ahead - which AFAIK has always been the case - it does not allow you to select dates past the end of 2011 (error message saying 'too far in the future').

So what I could see/do before, I now cannot.
 
Must say that the whizz kids at Jetstar still havent updated the flight schedules page since February and it is still showing schedules till March 26th, 2011 !!!!...But its now April 9th !!!!...If Jetstar cant get something as basic as an uptodate flight schedule page then what hope for the rest ??????????:confused:
 
Don't mind the new website, but could do with a few little fixes.

-Needs to be broken up a little bit (too cluttered). Break apart the area from the bottom of the booking section a few mm to where the 'hot fares and holiday fares' are. Also the next section too. Just needs to be a few more sections i think.

-Something needs to be a bit more darker, seems to bee too bright and colorful. A bit of an overload. Maybe change the white background to grey or something similar.
