Hi guys,

Just wondering whether anyone's used this feature before.

I have tried on 2 separate occasions (different itineraries) to check in on their website.

Unfortunately it always comes out with the following:

We are unable to check you in. Please check the details you entered and try again.

I called them several times today, replied by saying there's nothing wrong with their system. But no explanation.

This isn't an isolated case (well...may be isolated to affect me only but that's what i'm here to ask), so i'm wondering if anyone's experienced this, and how to go about checking in without first going to the airport. Reason being i'm pressed for time, and might miss the closing time for checkin at the airport.

Thanks.

...so i'm wondering if anyone's experienced this...
Yes.

But I do JQ-OLCI so rarely (only when in a situation similar to yourself) that I don't have enough experience to make a guess as to what variables might cause it to happen.

Actually, I just tried to OLCI for a weekend flight & it found the details quickly, and it offered to check me in, well before the 24 hour mark (go figure). NB: I didn't follow through, as I am not intending to fly that segment.

I decided Jetstar's computer systems were stupid a long time ago. They still haven't fixed the newish "My Bookings" interface on their home page, that quite simply hasn't worked - ever. (It always sends you to the old MMB page, where you have to enter your details all over again. And I spoke with someone in their call centre once, who had exactly the same issue with her personal flight. And... I notice that as of today, it's still not fixed. Go figure.)

As for a suggestion... maybe ring the call centre again, get them to log onto jetstar.com, tell them all the details and get them to type it into OLCI, to see if they get the same issue. (Of course, if they don't, they will have successfully checked you in, even if you don't have a boarding pass.;))

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Whilst I had made my mind up many moons ago that i would never fly Jetstar again, I gave in recently when I needed to fly at short notice & they were the only airline I could get cheap fares. In both directions, I had exactly the same problem. However on the forward journey I eventually was able to print boarding passes at home, the return journey was different. Despite entering the info, was unable to print. When got to airport, auto check-in still wouldn't print, go to check-in counter! In other words join the bloody long lines!:p

I have used the OLCI several times, including this week, without any problems. I have experienced the same problems with the My Bookings section of their website that Fluid-Flyer mentioned.

Used OLCI for yesterday's flight from HBA -used bag drop as I needed to check bags. :-|

Good thing I did use OLCI (or was able to)! The queue at the check-in counters 65 minutes out from the flight was 50 people deep. There was a separate (empty) queue for those with pre-printed OLCI BP's - straight to the counter and it took about 1 minute.

(... there's no status benefits when checking bags for JQ flights )

You can also check in at the Qantas Club which I did last night....we didn't have check in lugagge; I wonder if you can check in at the QF club if there's a long Q at the J* counter, and then go to the bag drop counter if you need to check bags?

I did OLCI successfully for my JQ flight last Friday as I would be arriving at the airport late, and possibly after the 30 minute check in deadline.

Should not be a problem; the bag-tag receipts were simply stuck to my A4 printed sheets.

Theoretically you could i suppose, but the intention of checking in the baggage (ar at least part of the reason) would be because it is either too big or too heavy to carry on. SO unless you have somebody looking after it while you enter the sterile area and into QC to checkin, i don't see how it's possible to bring your intended checkin baggage through the security, into QC to checkin, and out again.

But i may be wrong about this. Anyone actually tried this before?

I was HBA where the QP is landside.

If your case will fit through the x-ray machines you can take it Airside in Oz.

Well months on...and today was my first attempt at using it.

7am no action...and by 9pm still no success either.
Has been down all day. Rung Jetstar 3 times..each time told it was "system maintenance",..try again later!!!!
Glad I read this thread though as I read that you can book into the Qantas Club....and as I just have carry on bags will check out that option.
Hope it is so fora MEL departure as my flight is at 6.40 am.

I wonder if you can check in at the QF club if there's a long Q at the J* counter, ...

That's prompted a quick question, I know that when flying JQ, QP members can check in at the lounge if carrying hand luggage only... but can you check in at the dedicated QP/J lane for JQ if needing to check baggage?

QP benefits page kind of suggests no, anyone tried this or can confirm the answer?

JQ lady told me last week or week before that the JQ booking system was being linked to QF this month - perhaps when this happens, JQ flights will show in the my bookings section and status will be recognised by JQ.

Somewhat limited in experience with different airports with JQ (MKY, SYD, AVV), I have found that SYD on a Friday arvo is a painfull experience if waiting in lines. I usually use the quick check terminal, join the bag drop line (which is always short and fast), trot down to gate 49 or 53 (is that the one opposite QP entrance?) and ask a desk person to reassign a seat there if not happy with JQ's allocation. As mentioned in previous posts, I seem to always get exit rows or row 1 anyway.

Into the QP for a couple and wait the boarding call..

Oops, I should have added Newcastle to the above list as well, JQ'ed Thursday 1755 to MEL - last to check in and was still in an exit row - there were plenty of empty seats on the plane B&C's and D&E's but the JQ system defaulted me to an exit E between 2 other PAX

Mr!

Tried this in PER a while ago, and was told in no uncertain terms that it could not be done and I'd have to join the long JQ line

Sorry for the thread necro, but my question seemed relevant here.

Have a domestic JQ flight coming up departing from an international terminal, and was just trying to work out whether anyone knew if it would still be possible to do web check-in? No checked bags obviously.

And if not, are there any kiosks in the international terminal or do we have to join the infamous JQ check-in line? I'm guessing status is irrelevant for these purposes.

You need to go via the counter to get the D sticker for your BP, so no online check-in.

Just did web check in with Jetstar and the boarding pass wouldnt not 'generate'. After waiting on the phone for 20mins I was told 'there seems to be a problem with it. we fixed it a few days ago but now there seems to be a problem again..."
So I have 1) wasted time by even doing the checkin online as 2) I still have to be there 30minutes before the flight leaves in order to collect my boarding pass!!!

So basically I would have been a happier person if I had just decided to queue up and checkin in person for my flight as this lack of boarding pass printing is totally unacceptable and has made me rather cross.

This isnt the first time Ive had this problem - happened 5 weeks ago as well. Silly me!!! Thought they might have fixed it. It would be very helpful if the option to do webcheckin was flagged with a 'cannot generate boarding pass at this time' message so passengers didnt get sucked into wasting time doing the check in and then still having to queue up.

I think doing the "auto email" the boarding pass is the smart solution.

I equally checked-in and the system coughped out while trying to generate the pdf.
Call centre said - no cant regenerate. system is once only.
Equally the auto-terminals can't reprint.

Luckily was at MEL on a quiet Sunday so went to the service desk on the far left.
Still took staff 5 minutes to issue the docket

I had the same problem back when it launched too. (Caused me a mad panic, and parking in the short stay car park instead of the long term, to ensure I was manually check in by 30 min cut off.)

Now, I just ensure that i "tick" to have an email sent, as well as generate the BP now - so even if the pdf doesn't generate, I still receive it via email shortly after.

Can't believe they still haven't fixed the problem!
