I was wondering if anyone had any experience getting a tri-fold garment bag on JQ(35/36) as the "small item"?

It looks like a largish laptop bag I guess.

I've travelled on JQ with roll-aboard + small laptop bag before without any problems. It feels like I might be pushing my luck with this garment bag though?

My roll-aboard is the 48/34/23 (105cm) kind.

As a secondary question. What happens if I get to the gate and they tell me I have to check the roll-aboard? Will I have to hand over my credit card before they'll let me on the aircraft?
