Thanks Alan,

JetStar is very desparate with their low season HNL fares may be because of all the bad publicity they had on that route, the price for low season was about $744 last week, now ~$650.

Their fare booking system is very doggy as well, just like their service and them in general, if you go in the first page and click on the booking system from the main page you get ~$1055 for JetSaver !!!!
if you do it through the sales/special page you get ~$650 for JetSaver as well.

[This sale offer may have expired when you book]

Another interesting tid-bit in the copy

"Available for travel on selected dates between 1March and 24 June 2008 (fares may not be available during peak periods or school holidays). "

Jetstar have always blocked school hols and peak periods upfront. Now they seem to be saying - "maybe we will, maybe we wont - have a look and see".

I did, there were no special seats in school hols - oh well lol

I think this is a response to Tiger not having blackout periods for their sale fares.

I have managed to book a couple of AU$140 + xtras each way flights to HNL over the school holidays.

btw, to get the special fares you must go through the "As Seen On Sunrise" link... Jetstar Airways Cheap Flights, Low Fares all day everyday from the world's best Cheap Fare airline | Search Flights

, what was the all-in price per sector? I'm just interested in HNL-SYD, but after the promotion period, around 5 July which is likely in the holiday blockout too.

$348 + $5cc booking fee outbound (that is for Friday 14th March, not holidays but the week before) Tuesday 17th & Easter Saturday (22nd) both have this fare available.

$296 return the week after.

To get the $140+++ return fare you must book it as a return fare, HNL-SYD one way wont provide the special price.

Given that the promotion finishes on the 24th of June, there are no cheap fares for July, however Jet* are very good at extending there promotions and validity periods...

I have August flights already booked from a previous promotion at $170+++ each way

I need to find a US/Hawaiian equivalent special!

Thanks file51, it didn't take long to price a o/w to HNL but like you say, this promo is really ex-SYD rather than either SYD/HNL departures.

My dummy booking to HNL yielded $348.44ea.

I'll try the normal site to see what it's giving HNL-SYD o/w.
Thanks again!

Given the frequency of Jet*'s specials so far this year I dont think you will have to wait long before some sort of an offer comes out.

It really does seem like they are desperate to get bums on seats on the HNL sector...

Personally I would rather fly QF or HI and get points, but with the fares being offered, well that is too hard to knock back, especially given how cheap an onward flight to LAX can be sourced out of HNL... sure beats the $2k + for a direct west coast flight.

Over the last year I have done several SYD-HNL-LAX returns for less than AU$1100 all in... no points or SC's but more frequent holidays. (using ATA, AA or HI for the HNL-LAX flight - whoever was cheapest)

It would be funny to see the HNL & KUL fares have a prominent statement 'fares exclude service from JQ in the event of flight cancellation or delay', in light of recent terrible 'SYD lockout' publicity, though I suppose SYD Intl being 24hrs would not lead to such bad publicity.

Our $225o/w HNL specials were great in 2007, in that they were bookable, unlike the 'advertising' 3c & 1c JQ & DJ fares for new domestic routes.

I'm really after a good AA redemption from a NYC airport, like LGA-HNL, JFK-HNL etc, especially if it allowed a 23.9hr stop in ORD! Then get a QF/JQ redemption HNL-SYD after a mini-stay in Maui or HNL!

Yes, I'd like to know of any further ex-HNL sale on JQ, HA or anyone else! :D
