JAL are reducing fuel surcharges from 1 April from US$204 (A$317) to US$34 (A$53) and will review it quarterly

(As reported in today's Travel Today)

Should make using JL somewhat more attractive, especially given how far their taxes have already dropped of late.

Ah yes, NM, but have you been following the price of oil lately?
Yes, I have been. I check it most days. But its still a big reduction compared with what other airlines are doing for long-haul flights. And I think its a good move.

Good to see they have finally come to their senses. Going from US$204 to US$34 is a huge reduction in fuel surcharges....

Actually JAL are more transparent with their fuel surcharges than most airlines. They do actually publish their methodology for working it out. The downside of their method is the lag between movements in jet fuel prices and their surcharges.

If only Air Canada would do the same... they're still charging $260 fuel levy for SYD > YVR !!

Rip off.
