It's time for the tags to come off

Great outcome for you Fiona given your location and need to fly on JQ. I would certainly have made the same decision in your position - I have no interest in flying JQ unless it is JQ business max to HNL.

Delta did a good job of removing my Gold tags in ATL...

Will requal gold this weekend, with a short rtn BNE-SYD...

I guess that my BIS Gold will be even less significant once all the SM Plat-Gold soft landings happen... hahaha

QF Baggage Handlers seemed to have removed the tags for me :p
I have had some really nice tags over the years which have disappeared.

These days I do not bother having any tags and even when I do get some nice priority tags connecting from one airline to another they get removed. :(

My Gold tags come off tomorrow but have a few flights coming up in J with Virgin so probably won't feel the difference just yet.

It feels like VA are moving in the right direction but until their lounge program provides global access I'll stick to the Qantas Club.

If the J specials keep popping up in happy hour it wont be hard to keep gold in both!

The drron household also is being downgraded tomorrow.I sent all my SCs to mrsdrron but even that wouldn't have seen her retain gold.Unfortunately DJ out of MCY are not competitive with JQ.Only 2 services per day,1 SYD and 1 MEL.JQ have 3 or 4 to SYD and 2 to MEL.
I use DJ flying to DPO as easy connection but just doesn't work the other way.

Staying on for me.

2400SCs for the year with DJ, split 3 ways (very satisfying mathematically to have 3 exact 800 SC counts in the MichaelD family come reassessment time). Only I did the required # of flights, though, so I am very interested in whether or not all 3 of us will requalify.

Will be interested to see how long the "we are reassessing" message stays on our accounts before the verdict is handed down. I suspect my situation was not considered when they thought up family pooling.

Note to Virgin: Family pooling should pool Points, SCs *and* eligible sectors.

I disagree on this. That's what parter gold/ plat etc are for. Pooling should be of benefit only to those who actually fly in any household.

My argument is that family pooling is a very strong incentive for ME to send an extra 1600 SCs of flying Virgin's way. Otherwise, I'd not bother since any SCs above 800 per 12 months are wasted with Virgin.

I did forget to mention that I much prefer both the VA/DJ tags and attaching devices to the QF tag and rubber band. They remind me of the AA EXP tags which are my favourite bag tags of all time.

I'm using the attaching device to hold my AFF luggage tag on. They are great for that!!

:)

As 777 said, you have companion gold and platinum to provide incentive once you requalify.

If sectors pooled, then you'd end up with tons of gold members due to a single long haul family holiday (SYD-LAX return for a family with four kids in discount Y would net 480 SCs and a dozen sectors - not that far from gold).

That's roughly equating Gold to $8000 ($1200 x 6) worth of flying.

Seems about the right value to me particularly given the paltry $ amount Virgin themselves value Gold at lately.

Why not simply go the partner route?

Why not simply go the partner route?

I will do this if things look desperate (since it is an extra 200 SCs). Right at the moment, both SWMBO and Miss D have sufficient flights already booked in the next 3 months with Virgin to make it to the 8 required, and neither have SCs expiring until well into next year, so at worst they'll have to suffer the indignity of Gold for a few months before going back to Platinum.

One year ago I removed my QF Gold Drink Coasters from my bag.
Last week I removed my QF Silver Drink Coasters from my bag.

This morning I threw out the "Why haven't you flown us?!?" letter in the mail from Qantas.

I think I've flown QF 4 times in the last 24mths. Although Virgin have got a bit of work to go, I'm much happier than them.

Better than someone else I know. They just didn't fly them at all (have dropped to PS now I believe) and it's been well over 24 months.
