Managed to somehow misplace either at Syd or ADL security checks, a personal piece of jewellery put through the security check. Anyone got best contact methods as to how to get it back - or is it gone forever???!!
Can't actually remember when I discovered it missing so not sure which airport I left it at!

Start with the airline you flew with at each airport, as security companies vary by airline.

Sure to be video footage so hopefully they'll check that for you

Here's my experience finding one small gold bangle left in a security tray 'somewhere'!
Went through ADL on the way home the other day, settled into the lounge then wandered back to security where I found a supervisor strolling the security area. Asked if there was any record of items left behind in security trays and explained my predicament. Invited me over to his 'desk' where a folder had a sheet for each day listing items left behind. Unfortunately my gold bangle was not listed so at least that told me that it was definitely Sydney I was now needing to contact.
So in a most impressive to and fro of email communications from the Lost and Found at Sydney International Airport, and after me having sent a photo of my bangle, they were able to say yes, item found and provided a reference number. Collection could be either pick by myself, someone else with an authorisation letter or courier to which I was given details.
As said I was most impressed with service at either airport for security and their documentation of what items are retrieved.
Personally am extremely grateful to have my 50th birthday gold bangle found and will be more careful as to how I put it through security checks in future.

I'm so pleased it turned out well mrsmajor - I'd be so sad if I lost my 'special' bangle.
Thanks for the update btw.

I also had a positive experience in this case with Melbourne Airport. My house keys had fallen out of my bag pocket during the scanning / retrevial process. Only realised this when I arrived at my front door at 10pm at night no keys and rememberred I had to zip up my bag pocket after security.
Straight inside onto Melbourne airport web site found the link and sent email. No more than 40 minutes later received a text message to say they had my keys at lost and found and provided a reference number. Retrieved 2 days later when transitting. First class experience
