is this enough time in between separate airline flights?

Hope this is not the wrong section, apologies in advance if its not

so I have the current confirmed flights via points redemption

JULY 2020
SIN TO HKG Singapore airlines J 14:30-18:40
HKG TO DXB Emirates F 00:35

waitlist has cleared today:
SIN to HKG Singapore airlines 18:30-22:15
or
SIN to HKG Singapore airlines 19:55-23:50

would It be to too risky to take any of the later flights?

one of the reasons im considering is because the confirmed flight SIN TO HKG Singapore airlines J 14:30-18:40
when I log in says "this booking has been changed, singapore staff will contact you"
and I cannot click it or even see any details of it, as it may have even been cancelled

I would pick this flight: SIN to HKG Singapore airlines 18:30-22:15
should be enough time. hopefully there are no delays with the flight.

Edit: will you have checked luggage?

I’d probably go for the 2215 arrival. However, in the current climate, with schedule reductions possible, you might want to consider staying on te 1840 arrival... giving you a ‘buffer’ of two flights in case of cancellations.

thats what im thinking as well,
would your advice be any differnet if there was no corona virus issues? is 2 hours for different airlines gap big enough?

im assuming that if my first flight is 1 hour late, and i miss the connection because luggage didnt come out quicker, it would be classified as a no show and id lose my points and possibly be stranded

luggage too, good point

For international connections on separate tickets I would go for at least 4 hours minimum connection time, for delays, collect luggage, etc.

Separate tickets, with luggage to collect... i’d agree for a three to four hour buffer. Stay with the 1840 arrival :)

I agree with the 3-4hr buffer for separate tickets. But for reference, SQ usually would through check luggage to full service carriers, even on separate tickets so there shouldn’t be a need to collect and recheck luggage.

Yes, unless it has changed in the last year or so, but I haven’t heard or read anything to suggest it has. At HKG checkin, just need to show them printout of your onward flight, and then go to EK transfer desk at Changi to collect your boarding pass and give them your bag tag numbers.
