Is this considered hidden city ticketing?

Hi All,

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere but I can't track it down. If one was to have multiple trips to the USA in the next year, are there any T & C's that would prevent me from doing the following...?

There is currently a promotion on the US Qantas site offering premium economy return companion fares LAX-SYD for $2198 per person. Booking ex AUS has the price over 4k return. Can I book the following without running into any problems? One fare ex Syd-Lax departing August 25, return Oct 25 and another booking ex LAX-Syd departing Sept 17, returning October 10th?

Has anybody done this? I can't see any dramas but I'm sure you collectively have more insight than I.

Not really. That's more like currency arbitrage.

Hidden city ticketing would be say, if SYD-LAX was pricing at $4k but SYD-LAX-DCA was pricing at $3,900, so you buy SYD-LAX-DCA but once you land at LAX you leave the airport and don't show for the LAX-DCA leg.

That is a nested flight Orca, and it is quite common practice. You will have no trouble at all.

Yep nesting is a wonderful thing.
When the cheap LAX-SFO-SEA vv YUP fares were around a few years ago twice I managed to book them, along with a nested trips out of SEA. Never any issues with the AAngels checking in or ticketing etc.

Actuaklly, those were not "YUP" tpe fares - they were flexible and booked directly in the "F" fare bucket (not "P" or "A" ).

Nested ticketing ex the USA is fantastic and for those regular travelers makes it much more affordable and a great way to fly in premium cabins.
I book Y+ nested USA tickets and upgrade to J with points (great value on both counts)

Yeah it will be fine. My work has done it for me for trips to HK, albeit in Y .

EDIT: Flights originating outside Aus are almost always cheaper than flights originating inside Aus, so take advantage of it.

There is nothing wrong with ducking back to Oz in the middle your trip to the US.
