I'm moving to London in the next few months and need to start upskilling my knowledge of the FF environment there. Are there sites other than Flyertalk, which I dont like because the interface is very dated and the users rip each other to shreds.

I've already found the OzBargain UK travel equivalents, which are:
1. Hot UK Deals;
2. Holiday Pirates; and
3. Fly4Free (UK).

The FT BAEC forum is relatively civil (more civil than a few other fora)- certainly it's the best source I know of flying ex UK.

Think it's FT Airlines. The website is OK, the Mobile format is horrible

I agree with this.
BAEC is OK for the most part. It would be the most widely used in the UK

There is no direct AFF equivalent but-

headforpoints.co.uk is very good on the flight, hotel, credit card and supermarket earning opportunities. Quite avios-centric but some discussion of middle east airlines, less so the LCCs (as no points earning opportunities.

For the nuts and bolts of flying BA, I would second the FT BAEC forum. The dashboard is excellent and not as aggressive as the American fora

Interesting how KrisFlyer and AAdvantage seem to look less attractive to the UK-based flyer than the Australian one, partly as the big disadvantage of BA is surcharges which are high with both ex-UK

The BA Amex is quite highly thought of for 2-for-1 redemptions

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks so much for this - I've had a look at HeadforPoints and its excellent - sort of like a Point Hacks/Ausbt crossover.

I'm not anti-BAEC its just whenever I hear BA I automatically think 'FUEL SURCHARGES'. I've got loads of Velocity points so will be looking at EY and VS redemption opportunities ex-LHR.

I've noticed on the premium fares deal forum on FT that there are some fantastic J revenue fares being offered ex some other European ports (especially QR J ex-OSL) which I'm keeping a close eye on. I already know LHR is not the best city to fly out of for a number of reasons!
