Is the Turkish Airlines the best lounge in the world?

TBH I readily admit huge variety of food - but quality? Seriously it is only airport lounge food. Variety of activities to keep you occupied? Multiple - but I gotta tell you I have much better things to do than waste time playing pool or whatever in an airport lounge.

Now did I mention that there is no Champagne or no decent wine on offer in this lounge? It's big - it's impressive - but as a place to spend a period before flying in F or J and enjoying a quality drink or 2 prior to boarding - no better than many others (IMHO of course)

Yes it doesn't have champagne but that's about the only downside. When I'm in IST it's more than likely I'll be connecting which means already had more drinks then I should onboard :p

Not alcohol I know but I thought the coffee there was special. Now the food is not just airport lounge food, common Cruiser you've spent too much time in F lounges and TPR. The variety and quality of the food in TK lounge is impressive for a J lounge and better than some F lounges I've been to.

Last but not least, they have virtual golf.
nuff said :p

Also not impressed on our visit.Food wasn't great IMHO.
Wine already discussed.
And lots of very noisy pax when we were there.

The TPR food is nothing that extraordinary. Limited menu, and the buffet is very average. I think Lufthansa probably wins the First class lounge food award.

Have to agree. I've transited IST many times and find the lounge to be usually overfull, dark, with limited food and drink choices. EK lounges beat the pants off it, and there are many other lounges that are its equal or better. Bigger is not necessarily better.

Will have to look harder next time I'm in the SQ lounge. Didn't see much last few times.
Hi Cynicor, If you are refering to the Singapore SilverKris Lounge last June (2014) when I was there there was a sign near the Tiger beer self serve tap stating if you want champagne you need to ask one of the staff.

Confused! The Virgin Lounge in London is a business class lounge... if it's better than the TK lounge, that means the TK lounge is not the best?
Good point... It fooled me into thinking it was a first lounge, with the beautiful lady giving me a shave and ordering from a restaurant menu. oops.

Happened to see a show last night of a Turkish airlines crash...mmmm not sure what year?

There have been several. The most infamous is probably the flight that crashed outside of Paris in 1974. A design fault of the DC-10 used to operate the flight. More recent was the amsterdam crash in 2009.

Surprised the QR lounge at LHR hasn't rated a mention.
It's among the best in my limited experience.

... along with the Al Mourjan Premium Lounge in Doha, with Krug in the dining room.
Unfortunately the Doha One World lounges for status pax travelling in Y are not so good - difficult to find a seat, small food selection and a queue for the coffee machine.

I reckon that the TK lounge is one of the best J lounges I have been in. I will do my best to increase that sample size.

From my sample size of 15-20 J lounges, the TK one in IST is clearly the best.
