Is QF75 a seasonal route?

Due to my flexible ticket conditions through my travel agent, I'm hoping to find a flight out of Canada that does not stop through the USA. However they need to be booked on Qantas and can't be code share... I found qf75 however when trying to book it, the option won't come up for it as need it for June.

Welcome to AFF, tfly.:)

Yes, it is seasonal - it used only to be our Christmas period (Canadian winter) but I thought they extended it to mid year as well.

Edit: It seems no more if they ever did it. Dates and details

QF76/QF75 seasonal flights operate between 9 December 2017 to 29 January 2018 on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Presumably you'd actually need QF76 (YVR-SYD) - not QF75 which is the other direction.

QF75 only runs Monday, Thursday and Saturday (I assume with the time zone, that QF76 is the same days).

Is that a factor in why you cannot find the flight ex-YVR?

There's no other QF metal ex-Canada.

If you can't go via the US presumably for visa reasons then Cathy to Hong Kong might be the only answer to have QF in the mix.

What are these "ticket conditions"?
The current QF75/76 SYD-YVR is seasonal. 3 times weekly (Monday, Thursday, Saturday) from mid Dec-end Jan and late June through mid July.
The seasonal schedule might change if/when QF get more 787s past the first 8. (A route to North America is expected for 787s 7-8, but that is likely to be BNE-ORD, DFW or SEA)

I will be in the US on a student visa already and hoping to go to Canada after, therefore am unable to pass back through the US after (well I can but way too risky). So a return from US has booked for me but travel agent advises that the ticket is flexible on there part, so I could change the return destination as long as the new return is a flight on Qantas metal.

yes my bad

QF75 only runs Monday, Thursday and Saturday (I assume with the time zone, that AF76 is the same).

So you will be going US-Canada when the student visa expires and will then return home after a short stay in Canada? and your Canada-Australia return flight is currently booked via the US onto a QF flight from SFO, LAX or DFW?

There shouldn't be any issue with returning to Australia via the US provided you don't attempt to do so using the expired(?) student visa. Assuming you have a valid passport, get an ESTA and transit via the US using that. Connecting via the US with an ESTA and holding a boarding pass for the connecting QF flight would give CBP no reason to doubt that you are returning home after a side trip to Canada upon completing school.

What makes you think you will be "unable" or that it is "risky" to return via a US connection?

The embassy told me its not guaranteed as it full discretion of the officer and that the special transit visa would be more convincing, which is $200.... Even though I would have an esta and onward ticket out. But yeah I think the only option would be just to risk it and go through LA anyway.

If you are really very worried, you could go AC (Air Canada) from a city there down to SCL (Santiago), and fly from SCL to SYD, thus bypassing the US.
Air Canada does have a laision with VA so you join VFF and still get VFF points for flying from a Canadian city to SCL, then a earn QFF points and SC for flying a flight from there to Aust.
Probably way more expensive, but QF does fly SCL to Aust, directly themselves.

I certainly hope they are scheduled, seeing as I'm booked on QF75 in the last week of July! QF76 is flying from 30th June to 28th July, three days a week (Mo/Th/Sa).

Jolly good ... I thought it was strange, as I hadn't heard that the mid year service had been cancelled, yet Qantas publish that fare table showing all 12 months of 2018 and nothing mid year and don't mention it in the text either

75/76 is on the QF website timetable on Mon/Thu/Sat from June 30 through July 28.

It looks like a lot of their international city pair pages are broken since the work experience kid's last upgrade, e.g. LAX to MEL / SYD / BNE. They are only showing the dates where the lowest price may apply.
