Hey everyone,

It would be great to chat / meet with anyone else who is travelling from Melbourne to Brazil for the World Cup.

Myself and three other girls are heading there hopefully for the entire month of June and we are currently in the process off searching for flights!

Hope to hear from someone soon!

Sarah

I'll be there - but on a RTW ticket. Europe first... But can't wait to experience it there, as South Africa was amazing in 2010 & this is hyped up even more ;)

My two sons aged 27 and 21 are both going to Brazil on my points for the World Cup.

I am from Melbourne, off to São Paulo on EY in J award (thanks Velocity) on June 12th. Back end on June to Mel on a SQ Y award. Flight options even in Y quite limited and expensive, better book something soon. Hope u have put your ticket bids in.

We are waiting on the ballot for tickets otherwise it will be scalpers I guess.
My sons are going thru Los Angeles then Chicago to Sao Paulo.

I was thinking about going to South America next year and perhaps hitting Brazil during the WC... But after recent efforts by the Socceroos not sure I will bother... It will also be over crowded, expensive and the getting tickets thing will be a pain... Might still go, have to see what i can arrange with work but being there at the same time with the vibe could probably be good...

I'm not even that bothered if we don't get tickets for the England games, just being there will be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

And considering the next two world cups are in Russia and Qutar then the one after that I will be 39!

So it's now or never in my eyes :)

Same here. For me, will most likely be the last big boys trip for a while. Always wanted to go to Brazil, will be one mad month of partying. Most of our groups have booked regardless of ticket ballot results because by the time results are announced the flew long haul flights remaining might all be gone.

Yeah! Just do it!

The cheapest flight MEL-GRU is on Singapore Air. $28XX and $30XX depending on dates, MEL-SIN-BCN-GRU

EY/EK are a bit higher. Anything across the pacific is $4000+

Depending where you want to have a stopover to stretch your legs. If I didn't do my award booking my first choice would be SQ, nothing beats a quick stop in Singapore.

Sounds great bernching!

So does anyone have tips for finding cheap flight???

Hi Sarah,

Myself and a mate of mine also leaving from Melboune on 21st June until a day after the final.
For flights TK from KUL have really good prices via IST to GRU. In the region of A$1900 return. And you can get the MEL-KUL return tickets for $500-750 on Air Asia. Bringing the price to closer to $2.5k than $3.5k which is the price you tend to find with EK/EY/QR/SQ, etc.
