Hi all,

I haven't flown internationally for ages, and I'm finding the booking process very confusing. I need to travel from Adelaide to New York/JFK in January - fairly flexible dates. I'd like to avoid Delta.

When I search Planning -> Flight Timetables there are Virgin Australia/America options.
When I choose "book now" from this page or search via Planning -> Book a Flight, suddenly everything is with Delta for the US leg.

What am I doing wrong?

I assume you are on the Virgin website?
What airport suit you best
You might find that virgin America does not fly out of that airport

I'm on the Virgin site and specified New York JFK. (LaGuardia and Newark aren't available on the destination drop-down menu.) The Flight Timetables search gives me a Virgin Australia/VA International/Virgin America option on various days, via Sydney and LA, and the pop-up window gives me all the flight details. But when I choose "book now", and it redirects me to the VA booking page, it defaults to economy seats only, and all the US flights are with Delta. Delta is also the only option when booking directly from the VA site.

Is it the business part which is filtering the options?

Is Delta ok these days?

You're booking in J, I gather? Which will be F on US dom flights. In my experience, DL F is at least as good if not better than other major US-based carriers. Especially coast to coast. I've never flown VX though so I can't compare to that.

The only flights I can book through the Virgin website are Delta ones, even though part of the website shows others. What's the best way to book?

(Considering just going to Qantas.)

Phone the Guest Contact Centre and ask them. There should be no fees associated with them booking it for you, if it is unable to be booked online.
