Hi All,

I'm a Gold QFF and will be flying to the US in May on QFF metal.

Whilst there I will be flying around to several cities on American Airlines. I will be booking those flights through the American Airlines website. How can I link those flights back to my QFF account and will I be able to view them online? ie will they appear in my QFF Account or how can I manage those booking's online. The AA site seems to require you to be signed up to the AAdvantage Program to manage your bookings....

Thanks in advance..

I always log into my AA reservations using the AA US Site (top right hand side of the browser will get you there).

Click on the "My Reservations/Checkin" tab. It will ask you for your AAdvantage number, OR you can click the "continue" button which is under the "log in" button - under the heading "Or continue without logging in" . . .

Confused me the first time too...

Yep, always select "continue without logging on".

But if you book the flights through aa.com, you won't be able to see them in your Qantas online login - you would have to keep a list of the PNRs and look up each booking separately on AA to manage. Good idea to keep an eye on them too - I've had them change flight times significantly without advising me by email (other option is to sign up to tripit.com as this alerts you to any flight time changes for all your reservations - you just forward your itineraries for all flights and can see them in one place).

Also, I recommend when you book to select the US site (and not put in country of residence). I never use the Australian AA website, as the fares are invariably always more expensive than the regular AA site - they seem to bump up the price significantly whilst converting to AUD. Not sure if their new website has changed at all though in regards to this.

Always a good idea to keep all emails and documents relative to travel from initial booking until the points/miles have posted.

Now, for flights booked on AA there is an easy way to keep them lined up.

Simply join AAdvantage (free to do so and easily done online).

Then book your flights while logged on; you can still use your QFF number for the actual bookings.

The bookings still get indexed with your AAdvatage account and can quite easily be pulled up by logging in to AA.com and selecting "My Reservations". They still credit to QFF as appropriate when travelled.

Even if you have already made bookings; you can still log on to your new AAdvatage account and pull then up using the SABRE PNR.

They will then be linked henceforth.

Serfty's advice is gold!!

This single trick has made my life SO much easier. Especially when managing multiple bookings connecting into each other ;)

That's awesome, thanks for that! Wish I'd known that last year when I was trying to keep track of 4 different bookings with AA!

I just tried to do this but was unable to. I have a booking QF SYD-SFO-MIA-MCO-LAX-MEL with transcon on AA, sabre booking reference, AA can find the reference but is unable to show itinerary. Says it is ticketed, I think I will give them a call as I am unable to make seat selection stick on Manage My Booking on QF.
I get nervous when I can't see the flight nos.

Presumably you have an 081- (Qantas) ticket number. Unfortunately, this can cause issues with AA.com.

It's a long shot, but you could try you tried plugging the Amadeus or SABRE references into "Manage My Trip" on http://www.americanairlines.com.au/intl/au/bookOnline/bookOnline.jsp#trip ?

Thanks Serfty, I think that is the problem. I even called AA and got them to put my Advantage no. on booking but still unable to access online. After this my QF itinerary is missing a few internal flights
Will change it back again.
Fingers crossed the F SC land in my account ;)

As long as the FF No. is on the booking then the flights should credit, might be a idea to hold onto the boarding passes and/or print outs of the reservations just in case.
