Intercontinental gift voucher - Velocity

I'm planning on redeeming Velocity points for Intercon gift voucher.

I have called Intercontinental in Hong Kong and they are not able to tell me if it will be accepted.

Does anyone know if these vouchers are valid worldwide or if it is limited to Australia?

How many points do you need for a $100 AUD voucher? Generally such redemptions are poor value. I believe you can also book the hotel directly using velocity points (without first redeeming for a voucher).

Technically they are limited to Aus, NZ and Fiji.
