Passenger strips mid-air and tries to exit flight

An unruly passenger stripped onboard a Boston to Los Angeles, and then attempted to activate an emergency exit, which led to an unscheduled stopover for the American Airlines plane in Oklahoma City.
Passengers explained that the unidentified man undressed in one of the bathroom cubicles, and emerged naked in the cabin.
He followed instructions when he was told to return to the bathroom to re-dress.
However, after returning to his seat, the man dove towards the emergency exit. He was then restrained by other passengers, and tied up until the plane landed.
Once the flight had diverted to Oklahoma City, the disturbed passenger was placed in custody and under psychiatric evaluation, according to Gary Johnson, FBI spokesman.
American Airlines spokesman, Tim Smith, explained that the Boeing 757 took off around an hour later, and safely transported the remaining passengers to Los Angeles.
Passengers who disembarked in Los Angeles indicated that the behaviour of the man had not been concerning, news.com.au reports.
A woman travelling with her child, Gillian Callaghan, acknowledged that the flight crew had maintained control over the emerging situation, which prevented any panic from other passengers.
“He was just having some troubles, confused, not a scary guy," she said.
