This afternoon we started trialing a Content Distribution Network on AFF to distribute "static" content such as images. (For those that are interested, see What is a CDN?).

The main purpose of this is to reduce load on our main server (located in Sydney) as well as improving load times for users not located in Australia.

I was wondering if users (particularly those not in Australia) are seeing any improvements in performance.

Definitely see an improvement with (most) static images.

There are still quite a few images that I believe should be static and perhaps migrated.

For example, on this page, the following are still coming from AFF:
<removed links>

All of these should be pretty small, and may not be on the migration path - but still something to think about.

Glad to hear there is an improvement!

The images you are referring too are indeed static. As explained to me all those images should have already be migrated to the CDN. I'm not sure why you think they haven't. I also realise this is a bit of a technical discussion, so am happy to discus with you off-line. I'll send you a PM.

Here in Australia at the moment - Using Bigpond - Slower than ever - With pages timing out and having to refresh them to get them to load.

Also in Aust. This morning 8am or so on main deskto performance was great. Also found poor performance around 6pm tonight & now on laptop no better than usual, perhaps slower.

Sitting here in Eastern Europe, Flyertalk is faster than this website.

That's the benchmark you should be looking at.

Here in Goa India, at the moment and it still loads (for me) pretty fast.
I had problems in CX lounges a few weeks ago (see Facebook/AFF) where it just wouldn't connect, but at this stage I'm not seeing any significant improvement that would be worthy of comment.
YMMV?
