1 day into the furlough of US air traffic controllers (and other FAA personnel) there are already widespread reports of delays. Be interesting to see how may tight status US-based runs booked between now and September are thwarted...

Members of this forum love the phrase 'Original Routing Credits' so less flying but still getting the SC's will no doubt be a blessing in disguise.
 
I have found that American Service (AA, UA, US, etc) has been pretty good across the board with irrops, especially as a high status passenger flying F or J. I have been re-routed numerous times, and managed to get to my destination in one piece.

In the context of QF mileage runs, ORC is your friend.
