What do people think the London Air Cloud will do to fligt schedules over the next week??

I assume at the moment most airlines have planes stuck at LHR, and are having to hold planes at midway points (eg SIN, HKG, BKK), so things will very quickly be out of sync.

This morning on the radio QF said that they will be acting like business as usual.

As usual except no flights LHR-HKG/SIN/BKK and HKG/SIN/BKK-FRA/LHR. Some codeshares affected too.

Not hard for them to manage really at the moment (Qantas really doesn't have that much coverage of EU/UK really. Airlines like BA are the ones really up the creek!), but the big issue will occur when airspace in the UK re-opens and they then have to scramble to get planes moving again. Going to be costing them quite a bit in accommodation/food costs for various passengers.

There's a couple of planes I believe stuck at Heathrow - so that might be causing some concern for Qantas, but without those Asia-Europe flights operating, they probably have plenty of spare 747s anyway.

I have everything crossed that flights will be OK for 24th April, when we are due to fly LHR-MEL. It will be very hard to tell an excited 3 year old she can't go on a big aeroplane ... (not to mention disappointing for us).
