I was originally flying to SYD on a 738 however changed to a 734 following the documentary mentioned in a different thread.

The 738 was landing in SYD at 9:30, perfect for the TRS claim, duty free shopping, a visit to the spa and a meal before the 1pm flight. But no with the change I landed at 7:15am...

Yes watching the US Open was good... the coffee was great... as were the 3 bottles of water... but i'm starting to twiddle my thumbs now... =/

Never thought it would be possible but there is such a thing as too much time in the flounge =)

Maybe they need some cabanas like the Wing so you can get some quiet shuteye if it drags for too long. :)

That would be a dream, I tried sleeping in the quiet area near the spa... yeah... didn't work... got the flat white and got into the golf... Times like these I love Qantas.

Only if I flew international more often... I really don't enjoy domestic travel...

PS. the salt and pepper calamaries are as good as ever... and the Clare Valley Reisling is spot on...

Perhaps a scavenger hunt style competition to see how much of the menu of food and drink can be sampled before your flight :)

I got the 30 minute massage by booking the day before my arrival in the F lounge, had breakfast before that and then read about Julia,Wayne and Kevin.

I've spent 6 hours when my flight was delayed. 2 meals, a massage, planespotting, surfing the net etc but I was pretty keen to get moving by the end. Beats the hell out of waiting at the gate though (or in the J lounge).

I agree with the OP...I got stuck in the SYD F lounge for 6+ hours one day last year as a result of extreme weather at the destination; by the end I was getting a bit stir-crazy...

Arrived at the Mel F Lounge my customary 2 hours before the flight to Bkk. 8 hours later the flight was ready to go with a new engine. Gotta say that was the most enjoyable 8 hours I have spent waiting for a plane. Enjoyed Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in the F Lounge plus got a 1 hour massage and a never emptying class of Red and Cheese platter. As soon as my head hit the back of the seat I was gone and slept all the way to Bangkok.

If you are delayed, the QF F Lounge is the ONLY place to be.

I do agree about the beds. Maybe the F Lounge needs to move a few of the comfy recliners away from the windows and into the area next to the Spa and Work stations. I'm sure a pillow and blanket would be most welcome.

For someone who has never used the flounge it sounds pretty sweet. I'm flying out of Melbourne to Europe this Saturday, and will be heading straight to the commoners business lounge. What are my chances of getting a peak at the flounge by asking a kind wp member on their way in to guest me? What do I have to lose? Apart from my shame and breaking evey rule of FF Etiquette!

I fell asleep on the recliner armchairs in the QF SYD Flounge once, and when I woke up I had a blanket on me! Now that's service! :)

Cheers,
- Febs.

Breaking what rules? As long as you are on the same flight I would guest you into the F Lounge. Normally there are more staff than pax so at least I would have someone to talk to.

Far be it from me to criticise the F lounge service, as I've always been treated superbly there myself - but I'm not sure if I would find that kind and homely as I would on board or a little creepy! ;)

I thought FF etiquette was to invite the guest in, and politely allow them to take their leave if they so wished? Never got my head around it personally...

Herein lays the problem ;)

munitalP

And i'd like to add that nlagalle and I confirmed that ~5 hours in the SYD F Lounge is quite a decent way to spend a Saturday afternoon, especially after having had munitalP, one of my friends and a random Verizon Business employee from the UK join us in the F lounge the other day.

My only regret was we ran out of time to drink more Taittinger ;)

An extremely great way to spend a lazy day! i was sure we could have squeezed another bottle in!!

My liver is thanking me for 'going easy' on it though ;)

Mine too.. I think it was a bit angry at me early on but I was forgiven! maybe a 6th bottle would have tipped it over the edge!

How did you get 5 hours in the flounge, did you just check-in in Melbourne for both flights or was 5 hours spread across 2 lounges.

I might be going on MEL-HKG on QF late Saturday evening (25th) if flight confirms and would gladly guest you in if you have an evening flight
