I don't think so, but I personally would avoid Vueling like the plague. Check out their carry on bag sizes, for example. I wouldn't waste my money on Vueling.

Re: Iberia or Vueling

Avoid Vueling AND Iberia if you can.

I booked on Iberia.com, had an Iberia flight number and my gold ff number attached in the booking.

They would not honour ANY OneWorld benefits. I had an additional piece of luggage (which I was entitled to, due to my OW status) and they refused. Had to spend €100 to take it with me. Also refused lounge access.

Apparently it is buried in the OW fine print somewhere - how it is allowed I cannot fathom.

I only booked the Iberia flight (which cost more than Vueling direct) to receive all of the benefits of my OneWorld status. A complete waste of time and money.

I'd fly on EasyJet before I'd ever fly on Vueling or Iberia.

Re: Iberia or Vueling

Ok now I am worried - I have got two flights booked with Iberia next year - one from LHR to MAD (on a BA booking so BA flight number so my QF Gold status should allow me lounge access right?) and then one from MAD to LIS on Iberia - was hoping to have lounge access - do you think this will be declined too?

The LIS flight on Iberia should give you lounge access, it's their low cost offshoot Vueling that is the issue

I have flown MAD-LIS return with IB and I received all the benefits of OWE status.
You just have to be careful to book a flight operated by Iberia or one of their regional airlines which is a OW affiliate (Iberia Express, Air Nostrum).
Vueling is NOT a OW affilliate.
This is pretty straightforward. It's not buried in the rules somewhere.
OW benefits only apply on a flight marketed and operated by a OW member or affilliate.

Re: Iberia or Vueling

Thanks for this, yes my flight from MAD to LIS is operated by Iberia, I just checked. Really not expecting anything nice on the flight as Iberia seems to be very close to Jetstar in terms of service, but that's fine, as long as I get status credits and lounge access then I am okay :)

Re: Iberia or Vueling

I'd fly on EasyJet before I'd ever fly on Vueling or Iberia.
I'd also rather fly Ryanair (which I have done many times). At least you know where you are with them. And did I say that the current BA CEO is ex-Vueling.. Nothing more to say.

Re: Iberia or Vueling

From my experience in July where I flew 1 Vueling sector ( with IB code) and 5 Iberia sectors, both airlines are pretty much a much of a muchness in terms of hard product both being very LCC in appearance.
Needless to say, access to the IB lounge in Madrid was very beneficial, and surprisingly quite good for European standards of airport lounges anyway, plus a few SC's always comes in handy.

No QF points or SC, or lounge access with Vueling even if booked with a IB code.

Another data point - currently sitting in the BA First lounge at Gatwick. Flying on a vueling flight to Barcelona; sold as BA. I'm QF WP. The gentleman at the lounge entrance said that OWE are admitted as long as the ticket was sold as BA. I did have to show my card though.

I was also able to use the premium security line by just swiping my boarding pass and I'm pretty sure that wasn't part of my fare.

The booking has also been showing in the QF app since I made it, BA took my QF number which was useful.

Hi I want to resurrect this thread a little bit.
I'm looking at booking Iberia Express LGW-MAD on the lowest fare (express) no checked luggage included.
I'm QF SG, I believe I will get 1 checked bag up to 23kg, seat selection, lounge access etc. Question is, will my partner get the same benefits if booked on same itinerary?
