IAG, which owns British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia and other airlines, has made a bid to purchase Air Europa, a SkyTeam airline based in Madrid.

Personally, I cannot see how competition regulators would possibly approve this. IAG already owns Iberia, which is based in Madrid, as well as two other large airlines with bases in Spain (Vueling and Level).

And Level that also operates out of some Spanish bases.

Will all come down to how they define the market, given Europe is classed as a single aviation market, and you've also got the train competition
