Wellington Dominion 20 Dec 2010:

Accor is to take over the Hyatt Auckland from January 20 next year and will rebrand the hotel as an upscale five-star Pullman hotel.

Accor says it will become the largest hotel group in the country next year with the addition of Novotel and Formule 1 hotels at Auckland Airport.

The former Hyatt will be the first Pullman hotel in New Zealand though the Pullman network worldwide includes over 50 hotels.

Last year the Hyatt, opened since 1968, underwent a $7 million refurbishment of the guest rooms as well as an upgrade of some public areas and back of house facilities

With Adelaide gone and now Auckland, Hyatt is starting to get a little thin on the ground for those of us who travel mainly around AU/NZ

Hyatt is in good company with the Sheraton group... One does wonder if those hotel chains will ever return to Australasia.

Hard to believe that after all these years there will be no Hyatt Auckland.
Very depressing to see Starwood and now Hyatt losing hotels in Australasia.
I believe I also read that the Hilton Melbourne Airport had been sold, I think to the Pan Pacific Group.

It's a shame re Auckland Hyatt...I was due to stay there next May for a conference...probably will still stay there under its new branding....I have given up staying at Hyatts regularly as they are so far and few between esp. in this part of the world; it's a shame as they have some fantastic hotels. My last 2 stays at Hyatt hotels were the Grand Hyatt Casablanca and the Park Hyatt Vendome Paris,...absolutely superb stays:D
