I guess the coin has 2 sides. QF is running a business, not a charity. Australian wages are through the roof. Now compare an airline like TG, getting $AUD for ex-Oz sales and paying their staff in Thai Bhat, they must be licking their lips.

Was interesting that they didn't add it to their TV show, although they did say it was due to running overtime on other segments.
The cynic in me think QF had a word to the ABC?

Virgin NZ aka Pacific Blue (or what ever there name is this week) also operate NZ rego aircaft & NZ crew. But the unions do not complain about that. Nor does it get publiished in the press

But the Virgin NZ/Pacific Blue planes and crew don't pretend to be something they are not - an Australian Airline with Australian crews.

The cynic in me think QF had a word to the ABC?

Why would the abc care? They're not in receipt of QF advertising spend, and "satire" is broadly speaking legally protected.

All major networks still have travel agreements with Qantas, albeit discounted flights and/or waivers of luggage (can be up to 150kg a person).

Also i'm presuming Andrew Denton would be a CL member, he produces it.

Just seems strange advertising they will show it the previous week, then not showing it at all (besides the website).

Yes, you're probably right, I can imagine that Qantas would have begged them not to show it. Because I can't imagine what else Qantas would have had to say. Do you imply a threat or something?

I don't think he would sell out, but i'm sure there would be something else to the pulling of it on TV.
Also i don't think many of the producers would, but Andrew has his own production company 'Zapruder's Other Films', so is not just related to ABC.

Probably the editorial guidelines were more the reason

I realise about Denton and his production company. But that production company mainly make shows for ABC. In fact, Denton is one of the few satirists of his era that I think have mainly remained with the ABC and not sold out to commericial TV. Hell, even DAAS sold out in the long run. I do vaguely recall denton doing a show for 7 in the mid-90s?.

I find Hungry Beast a little too politically correct at times, and whilst they claim they like to promote the real truth, they often overlook a few key facts to produce a good story.

They said that they pay the NZ staff 40% less, but still charge us the same. Same as what? Same as other airlines? Same as Air NZ? Well so what, they're competing in the same market.

Or are they saying they charge us the same as what they used to charge before JetConnect took over all flights? Possibly, but if JetConnect hadn't taken over I'm sure the fares would have increased more in recent times, with higher fuel prices and so on.

Would like to know what they really mean by "charging us the same".

The reality is, I've just looked at a couple of random dates, and I can get a red e-deal from Melbourne to Auckland for around the same as I can to Perth, which is roughly the same distance. If I book into Business, the price to NZ is about half the price to get to Perth.

Then you need to also take into account the fact that airport taxes and fees are significantly higher for international flights.

The same people that expect to pay less and less for flights thanks to the advent of the LCC, are also the first to complain about business decisions that companies have to make to reduce their costs. I really couldn't care less if QF "outsource" some jobs to JetConnect (and I'd hardly call it outsourcing when they own the company).

I've found flight to NZ have increased in price over the years, even with them now using JetConnect solely. I realise this is commonly referred to as inflation, but my income hasn't increased
