Mrs Rugby and I have a night coming up at the Sofitel and I wanted to see if anyone has stayed recently and can advise on the quality of the Club Lounge? Cheers.

Was there last night and as good as it usually is, be aware that later this month the lounge will be closed for a short while while they do some maintaience (carpet I think they said) so lounge may be a bit hit or miss. Its always very busy so could be packed if they use an area downstairs like they have done in the past. Give them a call and see if they can tell you when the reno's are happening

EDIT: Just been told by SWMBO that works will be done in February, it is new carpet only and won't affect the usage of the lounge. How she extracted all that info from some poor individual is above me but I know better that to question her LOL

Thanks for the heads up eric2011. Did you sample the evening food & beverage selection?

I have done an edit to that post re the upgrade.

Yes the lounge nibbles and drinks have always been good, no shortage of wine and beer (self help) and constantly refilling the hot and cold food. When mrs eric stays by herself she doesn't usually go out by herself at night and the selection satisfy her food wise for the night

Also as a heads up, they still upgrade Plats from a normal room to a club room and give club access plus free drink vouchers and fruit amenity platter. And unlike a lot of hotels nowadays, they do an evening turndown and chokies on the pillow

Thanks again - sounds like it'll cover our needs nicely.

There was no problem getting the discount at payment

Everyone to there own, but dining at the Sofitel, when staying there, is one of the last places on my list.
The Sofitel, being so close to downtown and the bottom end of town, i.e. Eagle st etc and a ferry boat to Southbank makes it so very easy to find dining venues which are much better (even with 50% off). IMO

I was in the lounge a few weeks ago. Excellent canapés (hot and cold) such as satay skewers, dumplings, assorted cheeses, etc. along with a variety of beverages. Wonderful staff, and certainly not too busy.

Thanks Ewing - were you there on a weekend or school night?

It was a Monday night just before Christmas. I haven't been in the lounge on a weekend before as I usually have evening events on (even this time it was only a 20 minute visit before heading down to Eagle St Pier for dinner).

We had our stay at the Brisbane Sofitel last night. The club lounge served drinks and snacks between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. We arrived at about 5pm, with an elderly relative who we guested in for $40. The lounge was very busy, but the friendly staff kept the snack refills coming in a timely manner. The snacks were a mix of mini dim sum, cold meats, cheeses and some vegetables. On the drinks front I only tried the Chardonnay which was quaffable, there were plenty of beer options too. The lounge has excellent views from the 30th floor - get there early for a good seat on a weekend.

While not the best food and bevy I've come across in a club lounge I thought that for a $300/night club room it was fair value.

I have a couple of stays coming up so this thread is very useful. Posts so far have mentioned beer and wine, but are there no spirits in the lounge?

Hi Mike989 - my top 5 so far are Four Seasons Hong Kong, Ritz Carlton Berlin, Mandarin Oriental Singapore, The Palace Hotel Tokyo and The Langham Auckland. They're ranked in no particular order - they all have different strengths.

Thanks for that - have you experienced any better in Australia??
