I've just checked in for my last stay with SPG (end of project) and managed to clock 110 nights this calendar year.

I received an email from my "ambassador" over the weekend asking me all about what I like etc etc, and that she would request an upgrade for me, but alas, I'm in the room I paid for. A little bit disappointed as it was my last stay and I have only once been given the key to a suite here.

Anyway, how many nights have you guys clocked?

As a starwood gold, I do about 35+ nights a year at starwood, over about 8 stays. averaging 4 nights per stay.
Each visit I've always been upgraded to an Executive level room from a standard guest room at Westin.

Which Westin is this?

Currently I have 1 night only with SPG.

I shifted all my stay to Hilton after the status match and clocked 65 nights/ 25 stays/ and 175,000 base points.

I was never upgraded when I stayed at SPG, even with Gold status. With Hilton, I cannot remember the last time I was without a suit, both at home and overseas.

is it possible you're paying a discounted rate to begin with, it seems to me they treat you differntly if you've booked through a discounted website such as wotif. I have stayed at SHeraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers and Sheraton Wuxi Binhu (awesome hotel) this year and both times been in a suite, work has paid on each occasion

Were you HH Gold when you were upgraded cgoh?

My first ever stay with HSW I was upgraded to a suite with no status at all, then I jumped straight to HHD due to DJ.

This isn't a SPG vs HH topic ;) however for arguments sake .... in my only two stays as a VA gifted HHD status guest this year, I was only given one category room upgrades only and asking for a late check out ..... they made an extra hour seemed like I had won the lotto. At least with SPG Platinum, 4pm check outs are guaranteed (at non-resort properties) and if I do need to prompt the check in agent about a late check out, they automatically ask "4pm ok?" ... no sweat really.

If you were/are a regular there, you should had tried to make yourself known to 'someone' quite high up who could given you some better treatment. IMO a regular and frequent guest of a particular property should be treated more favourable than any other regular Platinum guest who turns up once and never comes back. I read a report on FT that some guy (can't recall his name but I think he's the new moderator on the Starwood forum) who is a regular at the Westin Grande Sukhumvit that he has his own room number assigned so every time he stays there, he stays in the same room.

Add, I also think he has his own bath robe with names made, and personal sheets too, because of his stay frequency!
