Hi all, this is my second post as the first answers were very helpful I decided to test your knowledge again! We are flying Qantas to LAX at the end of January on our honeymoon en route to Mexico and Cuba, we are coming back via SanFran. I obviously want this to be the trip of a lifetime and was wondering if I have any upgrade options. I'm under no illusions that I'm no more important than any one else and am fully aware that the airline doesn't have to help us out in any way. If we offer to pay a bit more is there any chance of getting into Business? If so when should we offer this payment? should I mention at check in that its our honeymoon? Any help would be appreciated.

Congraulations on your pending marriage.

The only real chance of getting upgraded to business class is to waitlist for an FF award upgrade using QF FF points. Some of teh cheap fares are not upgradeable, so if you have purchased on of the non-upgradeable fares you will need to pay the fees and difference to get to an upgradeable fare type. And there is no certainty of receiving the FF award upgrade. Upgrades are provided based on the priority of each person on the waitlist and that is processed in order of FF status.
