Hi again all

We are travelling with Jetstar soon and I'm just wanting to understand something (have searched but can't find definitive answer). I phoned the customer services but they didn't understand what I was trying to ask and the phone cut.

I know Jetstar have different (slender) 'offerings' to passengers when they delay / cancel from your "home port" .... but what if you live over 400 kilometres from your home port? You can't just go home to wait for your next flight (if postponed/moved). Do they offer extra assistance if you can prove you live a long long way away?

Also, I know this is not Jetstar but related, we have two general complimentary lounge passes which we can attach to our booking but there's two adults and one child. Can you buy an extra pass for the child at the lounge? Or is there a way to obtain a pass somehow?

Thank you so much for any assistance 😊

Doesn't apply to complimentary invitations unfortunately.

Hi again all

I think it means exactly that, the port near your home, but that doesn't exclude you if you have driven from your home port to a major gateway. Eg if you live in Newcastle and drive to Sydney to fly SYD-MEL, your home port is still NTL; the fact you have driven to SYD doesn't change that. Otherwise they would use the term "originating port" or similar.

You may have also flown to SYD from another state on another airline - or perhaps you are an international tourist.

The intent of this rule is to send you back home instead of a hotel if you live in the local area. You'd also have to be in a position to return to the airport to catch the new flight - and if you're four hours away that's going to cause limitations.

I would be quite confident they'd treat you as being away from your home port.

Thank you very much. I really appreciate the time people on this site take to help reduce anxious others (me! 😄). Such a wealth of knowledge.

There is no airport we can fly interstate from that's closer than Perth (over 450km away from home) so I suppose it may be ok if there's a long delay. We'll sort travel insurance but always better to have the airline pay/book.

I wish Airline lounges would let you buy a pass for a child .... I've gifted all of our complimentary passes out (except two) but obviously didn't forsee a funeral interstate. Does anyone have any other helpful ideas about how we could buy a pass for our 8 year old to access the domestic lounge in Perth?
