I'm off to HNL in October for a little R&R and to replenish my Ralph Lauren supplies. I was going to just go with the better half but we've managed to up the group to four so I'm tossing up hotel options.

Instead of a standard hotel, I thought a nice big two bedroom apartment or condo would be a little better (It'll give us a balcony to.... well drink Bud on). Has anyone got any suggestions? I've found a few websites but nothing is jumping out at me. Cost is not a huge issue, but given I can get two decent hotel rooms for about $300 a night, I don't want to be spending more than about $400.

Nothing beats first had experiences!

We tend to stay at the Ilikai. It's on the Ala Moana shopping centre side of the Hilton. You can do a private rental but we always book through the hotel. It tends to be the first pick up and first drop off for tour buses. Also a short walk to the Ala Moana Shopping centre and bus interchange.

I find the main part of Waikiki too touristy whereas the Ilikai is nicely located on the edge of that area.

Hope this helps.

Try the Ilima Hotel which is a mixture of studio and up to 3 bedrooms apartment. It is low key closer to the canal then the beach but fantastic. It is off most peoples radar and we found it by a fluke. The staff are fantastic and the savings are big. I know you said money was not an issue but you will have more money for your mate Ralph. :D

To be honest it is a little tired and needs a refurb but the staff and the cleanliness makes up for it. It also has free wifi. Mind you this could have all changed as we went there back in March 2009. Have fun!!:)
