OK, I should be able to answer this myself, however I am 50/50 whether I should try it or not.
I am thinking of catching a JQ flight in November from SYD to HNL in *class, this flight arrives at 6.45am.
The AA flight I want to catch leaves at 8.15am (will be flying in either F or P class).
Now I have been on the SYD-HNL JQ flight 6 times in the past couple of years, and everytime it has arrived slightly early, plus being up front helps with the customs lines, or at that time of the morning, lack of them.
There is a 75% chance I will only have carry on luggage, however I want to consider things with the worst case scenario that I will have a checked bag.
By doing this it will save me a full day as I have to be in LA that evening (by catching the 1pm+ flights will mean I need to travel to HNL 2 days earlier to be in LA at the time required).
Flying direct to LAX is not an option as I will need to come home via HNL as I have work to do there in early December on my way home.
Normally I sit in the Premier lounge for 5-6 hrs and wait till the afternoon flights with HA however I would like to try and maximise my time to benefit me, and scrambling between flights is totally acceptable over spending an extra day or so away from home.
I think 90 minutes is enough time, however I have some doubts as well....
Comments appreciated
