Hiltons in NYC

We are arriving in JFK at 2235 and are there for one night only prior to boarding Queen Mary II to Southampton.
I have a Hilton voucher to use so would normally stay at Hilton JKF but the hotel is booked out for rewards and normal stays. As a Diamond I can force a booking but at approx $US400 I am looking at other options.

Does anyone with more New York knowledge than me have any good suggestions or know of any standout hotels?

Are you coming off the CX flight? My plan would be to head to either the Millenium Hilton or the Conrad (there isn't really a standout in NYC amongst the Hilton family), attempt a decent sleep and go for a long walk along the Hudson path after breakfast prior to heading to the Cruise Terminal. I am not really familiar with mid or uptown Hiltons.

We are up to plan 23b at the moment and it's driving me nuts. We are now just coming off the short leg YVR-JFK on PR which arrives in the evening. (CX is an early AM arrival.)

It is not the best Conrad in the world but I like it. As I said, it is a nice walk on a sunny morning along the path/jogging track beside the Hudson. When is the cruise?
