Hilton membership on Platinum renewal

Hi,

I currently have the option to join Hilton (or the other hotel group) on my account. I have not exercised it as I have the same already though it looks like I wont have enough stays to keep it (without the Virgin deal).

My year end is in a week.

What happenens after year end. Do these reset, hence if I use one now I can use the other after.

Also what happens re the upgrades etc.

My belief is that they are all one off and remain in your account until used.

Although technically the status match is based on status at time of use, therefore if bjbrien soft lands to gold and then uses the Hilton SM, he/she may only get the SM on gold, not platinum. Might be worth a PM to VA to get an answer although an answer may take longer than the 1 week left of SMed platinum.

So we can be confident that unused upgrades won't drop off until after the 13th month, rather than the 12th?

ISTR a recent anecdote regarding this, but don't have time currently to search.

My official Platinum year expired a week ago. Today I tried to use one of unused complimentary upgrades. The agent said he'd have to phone me back as he couldn't see them as being available. Fifteen minutes later, he phoned back and said the complimentary upgrades expire on the date of expiry of the membership; they are not valid for the additional month. I told him that both my account online and my membership card say benefits are valid for one month after expiry and asked him what that meant. He said it means I still have Platinum benefits for one month after the date. It didn't seem to matter when I said the complimentary upgrades are part of the Platinum benefits.

So, at least in my case, all the Platinum benefits are not available for one month after expiry.

My membership rolled over on the 29th August. I had 2 upgrades left at that point, I now have 4. So it does indeed appear that the unused upgrades disappear at the 12 month point, not 13 months.

Platinum upgrades do not fit into the months extra benefits, they drop off on anniversary/review date as per the T&Cs.

13.16 Complimentary Fare Upgrades will expire if not redeemed (by making a booking in accordance with clause 13.15) before your next Review Date

Yes they vanish immediately which is a shame, I never got a chance to use mine before being soft landed to gold.

On my renewal date last week, I booked a SYD-PER return flexi over Easter next year, then called Velocity to upgrade. The agent following procedure explained I have 2 upgrades left which expires at midnight that night.
