Hilton Abu Dhabi and Ramadan

Hi Everyone

Have 2 nights booked at this hotel in July....I probably should have checked months ago when I actually booked the flights and didn't realise at the time that it will be Ramadan while I'm there. I can't change the flights now as I will miss my connecting flight on the next sector if I did.
Suggestions? Thoughts? I do know you can't eat, drink and smoke in public until the sun goes down, and that shops open later, as well as some activities not being available.
Do hotels have any areas available to guests that are not Muslim? Am I destined to be hotel room bound during my stay? By all reports it's not the best Hilton I'll probably ever see also, so a little worried on that front also.

For anyone who may encounter this in the future at the Hilton Abu Dhabi, here is their response to my email




Greetings from Hilton Abu Dhabi and thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay in Abu Dhabi.

Further to your inquiry, please be informed that our Main Buffet Restaurant La Terrazza will serve breakfast and lunch as usual during Ramadan, but the restaurant will be covered by a curtain.

In our Hiltonia beach club snacks and non-alcoholic drinks are available as well during the day. You are able to sunbathe and wear a bikini or normal swim wear, since the Hiltonia Beach Club is our private area.

All other restaurants will only open after sunset and also serve alcohol then. During the day you can only order alcohol in the room via room service.

Business hours are shorter during Ramadan and shops open approximately from 10:00 to 14:00 hrs and from 20:00 to 01:00 hrs. Non-Muslims are required to refrain from eating, drinking and smoking in public places (like shopping malls) during daylight hours as a sign of respect to the local culture. Clothing should be modest and covering the body. Kindly avoid appearing in public wearing minimum clothing.

Absolutely....I have a couple of big OS trips coming up in the next few weeks with a heap of different carriers and lots of Hiltons...will be interesting to see what I get from country to country this time around!
