Hello Everyone
Firstly - Thanks to everyone who gives up their time to share their experience and valuable knowledge. I have learnt a great deal but still have a lot to learn. Hopefully I can contribute some useful information too.
I am fortunate enough not to have to pay for any international flights as I have access to lots of points. I accumulate points through using cc for business expenses and paying the ATO.
More recently, I have accelerated my point accumulation rate by convincing my builder to accept all payments for a home I am building on Amex. I am not sure if people are aware that some people want your business and will accept cc payments even if they publicly declare that they do not...
With regards to flying - a few flights every year to Europe - all F saver Singapore Airlines.
I am looking forwards to reading as may posts as time permits prior to bed time...

Pointy Bird where are you located?
Welcome to AFF!
The first post is the hardest.
We go on SQ too.

I am in Melbourne.
I flew QF to Europe for many years, but 5 years ago I changed my credit cards to Krisflyer (thankfully!) and since then I prefer SQ.
Currently using Krisflyer Westpac Platinum for ATO (like you I suspect) and Amex Explorer for non ATO expenses.
Nothing against QF, but SQ has better value for F points, more European destinations, a better suites hard product and I prefer their style of service.

If you see a social event in Melbourne do not be afraid of getting involved. I have survived a recent one.

Thanks Steady.
And thanks for your 5577 posts! Where do you find the time?
I guess it just seems to be there, on the most part I get lots of enjoyment and info from AFF. I also recommend you consider getting along to a social event - they add another dimension to being a member.

Welcome aboard!

We also like SQ ;)

As cove said, don't be afraid to come along to a local social event. You can learn a lot at these. And if you like champagne you might want to consider the next one.

Thanks for the link Tom - I would have missed it!
I wil try to come on 21st October. Hopefully I can work out who is who by then. Do people use their AFF names or their real names in these events?

If penegal ,cruiser elite and others are there it can be quite an amazing night. There are quite a few ideas that can help you improve your travels.
